BlackBerry Dakota photo and specifications leak again

13 January, 2011
A new photo of the BlackBerry Dakota leaked today and it looks just like its prototype from almost a year ago. The only difference is the trackpad that has been added to the device and the bump in some of the specs...

Nokia N9 to launch in February at MWC

We’ve been hearing about the Nokia N9 for almost 6 months now, but it may only be another 6 weeks until it finally makes its first public appearance.

According to a Twitter conversation, the MeeGo-equipped Nokia N9 looks set to make its début appearance at February’s Mobile World Congress.

Nokia blogger @JosueGimenez posted: “OK guys, I repeat the the message for you, the Nokia #N9 will be announced in the MWC”, adding that it will be available to punters towards the end of March.

Specs-wise, no new details have been revealed. According to previous rumours, we can expect the Nokia N9 to launch with a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, a 4.2 inch AMOLED touchscreen, a slide out QWERTY keypad, a 12 megapixel camera with 720p HD video capture, 3G and WiFi connectivity and 64GB of internal storage. As we reported last month, the handset is also expected to feature a dedicated gaming engine, supporting a display of 190 polygons/second.

If the rumours are true, we only have a month to wait until we finally get to see the hotly-anticipated Nokia N9.

Nokia X7 heading for MWC launch, Symbian^3 onboard

The Nokia X7-00 looks set to launch at next month’s Mobile World Congress, alongside the MeeGo equipped Nokia N9 and the still-elusive Nokia E6.

The existence of the Nokia X7 comes courtesy of Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin, who wrote that the pictured handset (left) would be the latest addition to Nokia‘s ever-expanding Symbian^3 range. Besides revealing it would be a “gaming-focussed” phone, its specs remained sparse. Until now, that is.

Although unconfirmed, the handset’s full specs have been leaked via GSMarena.com, upon which one user claims the device will feature:

      720MHz processor
      512MB graphics card
4 inch capacitive display with Gorilla Glass coating
      Water resistant casing
      512MB graphics card
8 megapixel camera with HD video capture
      2 megapixel webcam
      NFC chip
      3G and WiFi connectivity
      HSDPA and USB ports
      32GB storage
      1500mAh battery
Although tipped for an MWC launch, the handset’s official pricing and release date is yet to be confirmed.

First look at the Nokia N87

Thanks to a misplaced Nokia prototype, we’ve managed to get our first glimpse at the rumoured Nokia N87.

The prototype was reportedly found in a bar, and has since been listed on eBay, dubbed the Nokia N00. However, it’s expected to be a mock-up of the N87, an upcoming addition to Nokia’s popular N-Series.

From the pictures we can see that the device looks similar to the Nokia N96, acting as further evidence to support the handset’s N86 labelling. We can also gather than the device will be available in a brown casing, and will come equipped with a Symbian^3 OS, a slide out alphanumeric keypad, 3G and WiFi connectivity and a 12 megapixel camera complete with autofocus, Carl Zeiss Optics and Xenon flash. It a

Nokia are yet to confirm the existence of the handset, although if indeed real, is likely to make an appearance in 2011. If you’re after a closer look, the handset is currently on eBay with a price tag of $799.99.

I think RIM needs OS 7. I know OS 6 is a much improved OS from OS5 but it really needs to revamp its UI. It's not a bad UI, but I think TAT will make a great UI for BB users.

I'm still with my 9000 & very glad to have been able to overcome any cheap attempts by RIM to persuade me to get anything after that. 9700, 9780 & Torch are all basically cheap attempts by RIM to make quick money by intentionally slowing down hardware upgrades. Even after the huge success of iphone4, I couldn't believe RIM still equipped Torch with that old piece of junk processor. Such greed & arrogance.
Now however, after being slapped around by iphone & androids, RIM will have to come up with something really worthy of the competition. I hope this is it.

If they will release it before spring, and if BlackBerry Dakota will have at least 1GHz processor, I'll probably stick with Blackberry and won't be changing to HTC, after my current contract with BlackBerry will expire.

Black berry bold, all their highest end models are all made of junk, cheap plastic that wobbles and becomes loose in 3 months use. The plastic is so cheap after 3 months of use it looks like your phone has been used for over 2 years. If only they put quality materials like stainless steel, titanium, glass, sapphire, etc so it actually lasts longer and doesn't feel like a brick of shit in your hands maybe more people would consider it. And using these quality materials barely increases the cost of the phone, except titanium maybe, but even that is going to be used in such small amounts it is really like 10$ more per phone to make. Cheap useless idiots deserve to go out of business and FAST!!!

I only want a phone with this form factor. I currently have a Nokia E71 and love how it is a very sturdy and reliable phone but the CPU is too slow and some short comings in the operating system like the inability to save text messages in user folders. But Nokia keeps pumping out phones like the E71 with minor speed bumps in CPU power so there is no reason for me to upgrade. I have been wanting to get a Blackberry for a long time but RIM does the same thing of putting out phone after phone that really isn't much better than the last and it seems now impossible to know what the difference is between them.

I want a fast dual core CPU with a boatload of memory, like 32GB or 64GB, plenty of ram, a memory expansion slot and long battery life. I don't care about the camera at all and would even prefer it didn't one have at all. It can even be thicker than my E71 which without any cover always felt like I was going to drop it anyway so I wouldn't mind a thicker phone and I am not worried about the weight.

I want a practical and powerful phone and anyone who cares more about form over function let them go and get their iphone so they have their fashion accessory and fit right in with all the other 14 year old girls.

Blackberry will be obsolete in no time if it keep doing what it has been doing for the last 5 years. Nobody wants a keypad phone now.

Business corps now wants bigger screen. touch screen and iphone. Blackberry has been losing market share. Nobody wants a outdated technology and form factor.

Storm is not really successful cos it is not as good as iOS or android or even windows mobile 7.

Blackberry will die a natural death if it can't reinvent itself in the next couple of years.

I used Blackberry, iphone, nokia smart phones and iphone is the way to go.

                                  it's blackberry you f00l.

what about iphone? also same DESIGN from first generation. 4th generation is suck.

i hope RIM will use more powerful processor and battery.
