Samsung Galaxy S8 may be 15-20% more expensive than the S7

19 December 2016
The figures come from experts at Goldman Sachs, who think the S8 will cost more to make than the S7, and this will reflect in the final price.

Yeah, I'd love a base model starting at *just* $750. Let's not forget to show some love for the $900 edge model! ;B

Note7 owner, 19 Dec 2016the increase in price is clearly to cover the Note7 disaste... moreThe increase in price is to cover the marketing budget. Next year they will go all out with the budget. This might be their last Galaxy flagship phone and who knows. Plus, the launch rumored to be on April. You are paying for the extra work load they doing for extra testing and evaluation. Delay means more money is spent.

Zenodroid, 19 Dec 2016Have you seen the new Nokia rumors? Yeah I almost forgot about Nokia but I did read the rumors earlier. I would definitely consider them if they bring a Snap 835 with a competitive price. Actually my wish is a Sony with a screen between 4.5 and 5.0 inches, smaller top and bottom bezels and louder speakers (the ones in the XZ, X, X Compact etc. have all too low volume). But there's something attractive about Sony so I actually hope they will bring up something good in first half 2017 without overpricing the phones too much.

Expect lots of "FREE" gimmicks next year for the S8. Increase the price but give FREE crap. Nothing is FREE in Samsung land folks.

the increase in price is clearly to cover the Note7 disaster. do you want to pay for the Note 7 failures?

Samsung is really forcing me to go away from their brand lol. I have S6 but no way I'll pay 700 euro or more for my next phone. Maybe I'll do something 'crazy' and try Huawei P10 if has a good price, or a good mid-range Sony phone or something. Let's see what the first half of 2017 will bring :)

And why?Instead of cutting the price after the blama with the Note and getting back the costumers they increasing thr ptices. Such a joke, these companies surprisingly made a huge amount of money.Have no idea how. Stupid marketing leaders, a man or women even a youngster could do better jobs than them. And who still buys these product, sorry to say but kinda a bit dumb or have so much money to spend on these gadgets but nothing else to do and not even able to donate a single penny for people who relly need. I like tech though but do not spend more than £300 on a mobile and these morons want £600-800 for what?

They might just stop giving so many freebies. The s7 can already be bought for relatively cheap from third party sites because people can get it subsidised for so much and sell it for less.

Yeah, explosives are getting more expensive these days. The new Nokia looks inviting tho.

Why?? To make up the loss just because they didn't test note 7 properly. Why should consumer pay more? It's Samsung fault and they should suffer not us.
