1. I can update my phone to fix bugs.
2. I can update my phone to add new features
3. Some people call update the purchase of a new phone.
Update is not a technical term. It isn't very precise. It suggests improvement through time.
I believe that Meego will be another platform above/alongside with Symbians, not a replacement to them. If ever an integration of phones and computers become complete, Nokia could stop producing Symbians.
But this era is way far to the future. As far is a real Pc multithreading of real Pc applications.

S60 in touchscreens. S60 in non touchscreens still kicks a$$. I said died meaning that it is no longer put in new phones. Nokia stopped making new touchphones with it - i think...

Nokia, please wake up, it's 2011. No one gives a damn to symbian anymore. Symbian rocked in 2002-2005 but hey it's 2011. Android rocks these days. This product fails with Symbian operating system unless Nokia decide to put Android 2.3 in it.

It's OS is symbian 1...!!! N now s60 GUI will not get any major updates....but the new SYMBIAN OS(symbian 3)
will be getting major updates(4,5,6)

Even the nokia ceo and vice president said themselves. Everybody knows that. Gsmarena and engadget posted news on year 2009. N9 will be the next nokia flagship phone.

I also said nothing about Apple.
To your questions then:
Market share is declining. Symbian users are increasing though. Numbers say so, not me.
Now Asians buying asian phones can only make sense. Asian phones don't have Symbian.
Samsung seems to be turning it's back to Adroid in favor of their own Bada. They left Symbian, now they leave Adroid. I don't know their excact bussiness model, obviously. Do you?
If i have to make i guess, though, i'd say that Google is a better partner than Nokia, cause Google don't compete with the companies that buy it's Os (a couple of Nexus aren't real competition).
You don't really know whether the new N flagship will have Symbian Os. It might have, it might don't. But will there be any difference? As if Nokia can't call a new Os, Symbian 4? Technically the flagship is going to have a "Nokia's Os" which is what Symbian stands for anyway.
And since when the existance of a revised Os, is a proof that the previous wasn't good enough? Cause if that is the case, then Adroid with all it's updates must be the worst failure in mobile Os history..! Which isn't not.
There goes your theory about Symbian's failure.
So HdDvd is Symbian and Blueray is Adroid? If you say so...
I won't mark your words. Platforms die every day and new arise. S60 recently died and S^3 replaced it. What's the big deal?
But i think that you should mark mine, cause there is a big deal in the whole thing:
"Don't buy from that company cause that company will die" - if people believe this the company will in fact die. For no reason at all!

whoever android users have already used there phone more than 3 to 4 years at minimum? Nokia phones are build to last. Then they make updates for your phones if NECESSARY. Google on the other hand creates another OS/update to make previous OS obsolete including the devices that at max can only hold on previous OS.. Sad to say, they are just like apple in terms of greediness.

Anonymous, 15 Jan 2011Check out what "track and protect" can do: -take... moresymbian OS has sim lock, phone lock and memory card lock which is also available to s40 devices as well. =) By setting the time when the phone locks or turning of the device, the phone gets locked. If you try to change the sim or MC, it automatically asks for password. It will only work if you have set it to work and the best of all is it is just a security setting. Not a paid app or whatever. =)
