the 2 types you are talking about are called resistive and capacitive touch screens.. resistive measures resistance, aka pressure like you said.. capacitive measures capacitance, meaning the ability to store an electric charge..
the thing is, our skin has a weak electric current.. but it is strong enough to be sensed by the touchscreen sensor..

You are correct about the pressure, but Capacitive screen does not work with heat comming of your fingers. It's because of electrostatic. The digitizer has an electrostatic layer and once your finger touches the screen that disturbance of the electrostatic layer will register as input(touch)

I think it is better for Samsung to release Galaxy S phone with smaller screen (3.5 or 3.2 inches) to target medium smartphone segment. This ACE is too much lower class

This is just getting ridiculous Samsung. Why build so much average to below average quality build phones? Is it because is so cheaply made that everyone is expecting to replace them every week? WTF! Why not put more time and effort into one awesome one and keep it for a while? Samsung as a brand name is becoming more insignificant every day. They copy everyone else and then put them together like a bunch of trash. I love their TV's but for everything else......
