I freaking hate those flash sales. I have a Mi which I bought because of the reviews and I hated it. Now I have Xperia XZ and despite the poor reviews, it is amazing. It somehow manages better battery life on smaller battery, is snappy enough and despite only 3GB of ram, does better than most phone with 4 GB of those.

People buy Sony, Samsung, HTC because they deliver updates. But if no software support, how can Acer compete against the Chinese brands?

"...India is the fastest growing smartphone market in the world..."

Oh please? It's also the market with the MOST poverty and inequality.

"Acer India's chief revealed that government policies like Made in India have had their influence on the company's decision."

Can't blame him. "Made in india" is for non-indian markets synonymous with "crap".

"Vivo and Huawei have taken advantage of flash sale strategies, which seem to land well with India smartphone buyers."

There you have it, brands geared towards cheap crap seeking a few lousy bucks of poor people. Sure that'll "land well".

"Furthermore, the company had hardly anything compelling to offer for the budget-oriented buyer."

Like I said. The biggest part of this "Indian market" is devised of poor people whom only look for "budget-oriented" devices AKA crap. And Acer's crap isn't cheap enough anymore for them. Booooo.

Samsung can do well because they can leverage their brand in place of raw specs to sell cheap phones. Other lesser popular brands have to maximize specs and their costs to compete.
