8gb of ram on a phone? Why?
Like any phone will need that much ram to run anything you throw at it. If this rumour turns out to be true, it will serve no purpose. Just a gimmick.. it will have 8gb of ram and only 4 of them will be required at the heaviest tasks.
Just look at Sony stuck with 3gb of ram. Does xz lags anywhere? No. Does it need more ram? No.

Android becoming lag free with more and more evolution. Have you tried Huawei Mate 9? Tell me if you find lag on it. I doubt you even buy a Samsung.

While it is true that Samsung shoots itself in the foot putting so much bloatware, the S7 is proof that you can disable basically all of it, replace the launcher with something that is quick (GEL or Nova Prime), put a half-decent theme on it (some Material themes are nice) and have a consistently fast smartphone that won't slow down. I'm a Nexus/Pixel user, but for both my parents I set their S7s since early this year and they are still performing amazingly fast no matter what you throw at it.
While your critic has merit, at least in my opinion, regarding most users that won't go through these hoops, it is not true that these devices have lag. Samsung really stepped up their game since the S6 and, especially, the S7.

I do everything from my phone, edit spreadsheets, practically all ny emailing is done from it, software cor work all works perfect. My laptops an i7 with 16gb, and my S820 4gb ram phone beats it in every department.
