SE must fulfill their portfolio with low-end and mid-range smartphones and touchscreen dumbphones (like Sharp's Alice) with decent camera and sound capabilities!!!

Wrong. It was Sony that was drowning alone ten years ago. Ericsson kept their name afloat. Ericsson was the big name at the time.

"Due to SE being a joint venture, Sony's communication with SE is almost null."
Wrong again. Remember Cybershot phone's? Walkman phone's? Bravia engine that will come in 2011 SE's models?

3% market share? Wau. Ericsson was biggest mobile phone manufacturer in the 90's. Then Nokia take the lead. Now it seems that SE is soon walking dead.

good to hear that news but 2011 wont give se the same profit.remember the scenario of their 2010 flagship phone?the x10,it will be on eclair forever,i mean to more support from se. i am sure that you have heard of the same bad habit of samsung and motorola. please se do not do it again. if i can suggest of a company to whom you will base your support, hen it would be HTC.

It would be better if Sony breaks it's partnership with Ericsson this yr.

I have always wanted Sony to get out of this partnership with Ericsson.
It's not working out at all...
Ericsson does nothing but complicate the things for Sony.
Due to SE being a joint venture, Sony's communication with SE is almost null. Sony hardly gives permission to use their technology in SE phones. Morover the headquarters, research facilities, manufacturing units, management of sony & se r located at diff. places making their communication with each other almost impossible. Even the engineers in SE r not the ones which work for Sony.
SE is working as a completely separate entity & getting nothing from sony.
If the mobile department had been 100% sony's part situated at their headquarters in Tokyo than sony's mobile phones would have been the top selling devices in the market due to latest tech implementations from sony & sony would have put much more money into it's mobile division without fearing abt any kind of loss.
