AnonD-402327, 29 Dec 2016I disable the Windows update Service and it stops updating ... moreThat is what i did too. Annoyed with those updates. Updating during shutdown and another updating during boot up. Took a lot of time for that for me to start doing something on my machine. Really hate it. Why not perform the update in the background, right?

No thanks! Until I can CHOOSE what to install and not install indefinitely, Spyware 10 is not for me ( not to mention multitude of other things that are absolute step backwards compared to W7).

AnonD-402327, 29 Dec 2016I disable the Windows update Service and it stops updating ... moreWould you disable your immune system if you could?

In a world of insane cyber security attacks having an updated OS is a blessing. Post-poning updates makes sense when you're working on something but like you change your car oil you should be diligent and update once you're done.

The new release will also have a pop-up to post-pone update installation once it's ready to restart.

Isn't it already a feature of the Enterprise/Pro Edition that you can choose when/whether to install updates? If so, I'm not holding my breath for the feature to make its way to the Home edition.

A simple restart could take hours, not seconds, because of these stupid forced updates! To stop these just go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Advanced options and turning Set metered connection on!

just bring back the pre-windows 8 update method being able to disable/ignore/hide updates rather than just pause and forced install it.

Their developers properly need this to get some work done....
It is only the billions of user they pester with this automatic booting.... }:-)>

IF they cared about their users, they COULD separate updates in a few groups. e.g.
                              1) Updates that can be done without boot and within say 15 minutes - these could be installed when the PC is idle.
                              2) Urgent security patches, These should be possible to postpone, but not too long, say up to a day or two.
                              3) Heavy updates and updates that require boots, these OUGHT to be easy to postpone, even for something like a month.

Microsoft rushes incomplete OS to market and user has to update it often as consequence?

not bad but I hope there is an option to disable auto restart when idle or leaving the computer unused. I quite don't like it. They should also remove the quick start option which is just basically hibernate mode.
