They don't need a fingerprint sensor at the back , they can use Qualcomm's UltraSonic Finger Print sensor under the Display hence the size of the phone could be trimmed..

The button bar is as big as well made physical buttons. And manufacturers usually still leave empty space where physical buttons usually are. So it the same phone size with smaller screen or the same screen (The space above the soft keys) at best.

Note7 owner, 29 Dec 2016Apple wish to be!! What will Shamsung bois say now? 3D touch was available in another form in Samsung's Note series from their second generation itself though it uses a pen and Apple made it to work with fingers. Though S Pen is lot more useful than 3D touch. So u can't really say Samsung copied in this front.

Actually it's a great thing to happen. Samsung can fit a bigger screen in the same footprint as S7. We have seen phones from Sony and even Pixel which have big bezels without any hardware keys.

Seems like the s7 edge will be the last Samsung phone I'll ever buy. Don't ditch that traditional look Sammy. Don't!

Finally Samsung starts doing something right. Soft keys are way better than physical keys.

Looks like I'm going to keep my S7 Edge forever since I've hated on screen software keys and I always will..

Soft keys make a lot of sense. That explains the rumor of an increase in screen size to 6 inches. it'll probably be like the Mi Mix where the screen is larger but longer ratio 17:9 instead. It's already really hard to hold with one hand, a normal 6" phone would be too hard even with double curved edges, so i'm betting on longer aspect ratio.

Smaller (actual) screens, here we go.
Software keys are another ridiculous "innovation" that makes 0 sense. For the same phone size you get a smaller screen. Just "brilliant".
