Anonanoymoususes, 07 Jan 2017then how long u want keep using old device ? another 10 yea... moreDon't worry for 3.1 adoption. As soon as USB 3.0 will completely surpass 2.0 (yeah, that old thing is still used widely), 3.1 will be more interesting. And price drops are also to look at. As I said, SanDisk is selling 128GB 3.0 USB sticks. This will greatly increase 3.0 adoption rate. Also, 3.1 drives are super recent. Only the newest devices have 3.1 slots. 3.1 should become mainstream in 2 years.

Anonanoymoususes, 06 Jan 2017and people afraid to change It's not that people are afraid to change, just that USB 3.1 requires a 3.1 USB slot, which requires a new device. Would you buy a new device, while your old device runs just fine, just for USB 3.1? 3.0 is just fine and people don't need pocket SSDs for now

I hope their prices will decrease fast...
I have a SanDisk Extreme 3.0 with 128GB, and it os reliable and fast. Got it 28CAD at Costco. Very inexpensive fast storage.

Does the other end need a USB 3.1?

Wow. Cool. Got their Sandisk Extreme USB 3.0 of 64GB for under 40 euro some months ago. It's incredible mainly because it feels like a SSD having 10MB/s Read/Write speed with 4K files together with 190 MB/s max writing speed and 245 MB/ max reading speed. The next one that was better was Corsair Voyager GTX (with a SSD controller on board), but much more costly...

USB drives have been pretty old already, and now they got some big upgrade.
