Vlad, 08 Jan 2017Everyone I know who owns an action cam has a GoPro, me included. You should try new Sony Action Cam (Sony FDR X3000 / Sony HDR AS300) sometimes the combination between Full Pixel Readout Video Recording, up to 100Mbps, built in hardware stabilization gonna make you think twice about your GoPro.
The lens on X3000 and AS300 also has less distortion (less fish eye effect) than the one on GoPro, if you like to do some underwater activities it also has Underwater mode so you don't need to buy a filter.
The preset VIVID color mode also looks better than the one on GoPro cameras but there is also neutral color mode for advanced user and since the sensor has bigger pixel than the one on GoPro (about 1.65 micron for Sony and 1.55 for the GoPro) low light videos gonna looks much cleaner than GoPro.
Now let me tell you the down side of Sony Action Cam the user interface is sucks, some people doesn't really like the from factor and GoPro has better manual setting/option.
But for me Sony Action Cam still little bit than GoPro because at the end of the day video quality is what really matter, no full manual control is not a problem since this kind of camera is like the a camcorder version of point and shot camera.
The preset mode is actually better for most user they just need to use VIVID Mode and the video gonna looks great without out of the box, or turn on the underwater mode when snorkelling or scuba diving and play with AE Shift to make the video brigther or darker.
And if you plan to try Sony Action Cam my advice you should get the remote live view.

AnonD-234645, 08 Jan 2017a VCP capable of recording at 4k@60fps costs about 9$ alone... moreHmm... Add 36$ for 4K recording..Sounds like a deal ;)
Especially since many midrangers have already a 4K-capable camera. Eventually, this will remove interest for A-class SoCs like the 8xx's and expensive flagships.

AnonD-558092, 08 Jan 2017Hmm, interesting. How much these things cost to make? If no... morea VCP capable of recording at 4k@60fps costs about 9$ alone. it's so tiny that without the other components it can't work alone. as in. you need a CPU, GPU and everything else. which I think bumps up the price to 36$ or so for a "midrange" chip

If not that expensive, that means Qualcomm just made it cheap on purpose. To think that mid-end devices could record in 4K just fine with an inexpensive hardware replacement... Curse you Qualcomm.

AnonD-581935, 07 Jan 2017but they are not offering android 7.0 and fingerprint thing... moreDude. this is an action camera. all it's supposed to do is to take PICTURES. awesome videos. and be able to process it and refine images. it's not an android device. (plus. you can't exactly do stuff in a touchscreen that is below 1.5inches. you'll need to have EXTRA KEEN eyes. and seriously accurate touches to operate that thing if it was an android device. o_o)

hence. even a dual core 1.4 GHz A33 can do it. with the right VCP.
