Google love changing names of their apps that do the same thing as the one before it. I think they are just bad at marketing to be honest. theres nothing wrong with hand out but somehow they failed to market it. one app that can handle SMS online messaging video calls conference calls, you can't really complain. now we have to put up with duo and allo that's terrible and never really work lol

I don't use hangouts more often but Google is awesome with its apps and Android OS.

Whoever is in charge of developing messaging apps at Google is a pure duffus.

Instead of focusing on one messaging app that does it all and works flawlessly, they've decided to make multiple apps that work poorly and lack expected basic functionality.

I know that Google apps are not that popular between android users, but I really liked the features hangout was providing (sms + chat). I've also enjoyed merged chat with sms, and lots of my friends are using hangout. I'm not a big fan of Google Plus but I don't want the app to be discontinued because lot of people are using it.

It seems like me and my group of friends must be the only people that actually use Hangouts.

Google shouldnt force its app onto manufacturers if it cant support it

Anonymous, 07 Jan 2017stay away from all native google apps. they all spy on you... moreGuess what when you download or starting using the google set of apps on your phone they tell you what they use it's your choice. Ask yourself something if you use IOS message app how comes they know how many messages were sent and how many photos were used in a message. Don't fool yourself thinking that its only Google at least when you download a google app they tell that they are using the camera to look at you it's your choice to download it. Please get a clue if you are using the internet in any form even if its not from Google they know what they are doing

First they axed the better known Nexus branding in favor of Pixel. And then they're sidelining the better recieved hangouts for some dopey named messenger apps. Google is a mess at times.
