But my home usage on PC is about 500 GB per month, and about 100 GB on mobile, via my broadband connection obviously.

Anonymous, 08 Jan 2017definitely lesser than airtel and vodafoneHow exactly? The minimum plan I see is 300+ or something, where I can have 600 MB data for less than 150 rupees for Vodafone! Just because you don't have an unlimited plan in home or office, doesn't mean we don't have. For us, who have unlimited wired broadband in both work place and home we don't care about 5 gigs of data per month. Even 1 GB I never finished in a month! Jio gave, and still giving free calls, that's worth a praise, and for them filthy ISPs like BSNL have launched 2 mbps UL plan for 1199, which was not thinkable until Jio, but that's it. After the free period there is nothing in Jio which is massively different than other operators like Vodafone or Airtel. Yes, you will get double or more data for same price, but like I said that's not for everyone. Its mobile data, 5 GB or 10 GB is same to me for an inconsistent thing like that.

Very bad deal, when you calculate in the realistic speeds, and make no mistake: this would cost 240 US dollars a month, for a speed that will for most users be miserable,i mean, 3G? In philppines Smart commuuications give you a month of unlimited data for $20-21, capped at 3G speeds, no hspa or H+, just old fashion 3G at max 384 kbsp, sounds slow but isnt all bad compared to the majority of indias 3G users who are always battling for their share of the network capacity. Vodaphone is letting 3G users pay so LTE users can enjoy for cheap.

The reason why Vodafone India is offering this deal is because a new company called Reliance Jio is offering 1 GB data everyday and unlimited local and national vouce calls till March 31st 2017.

-Message sent from my iphone using Reliance Jio Network..

okay..for the info of non indians..each and every one of my friends who have ever been outside of the country has vouched for the sorry state of internet in India, and the data packs activate after about half an hour after we request it, and that is not consistent, plus there is a difference in the basic cost of living and salaries between nations..so before you start counting cents/gb tell the average base wages in your country
and slightly off topic, internet services may look cheaper but the gadgets sure aren't..most of the cost twice as much
