This holiday season was not that happy for Nokia, nor was the year

27 January, 2011
Nokia has had a tough 2010, which proved worse than even the recession-bound 2009. The phones volumes and their prices have fallen but Nokia estimates it has taken the lead in the QWERTY...

Here is the proof that that "N8 sold 3.5-4 million units" estimation of that Finish (lol) survey company was wrong:
Let's suppose the average price of the Nokia smartphones between below 156 Euro is 125 Euro.
N8 costs around 440 Euro.
So 0.1(10%) x 440 + 0.9(90%) x 125 = 156.5 (Euro).
There is the confirmation that N8 sold, MAXIMUM, 10% of the total number of smartphones sold by Nokia, and 10% from 28 million is 2.8 million. Considering the fact that Nokia sold many other smart phones priced over 156 euro

Having said that, it is a bit hurtful to see people making outlandish and false statements which might affect others who read them - sometimes a rebuttal is called for.

i used many Nokia phones in my life, my last one was Nokia N95 8gb...but seriously guys, wake up & look around...Nokia's market share is declining ever since the N95, cause N97 was a fail, & N900 was just...don't even bother...don't take brand loyalty to an extreme level where you're blinded by facts...Nokia isn't the same Nokia it used to be 5 years along...i am a fan of good phones i don't blindly follow a brand no matter & buy whatever they bring out...i used SE, Samsung, Motorola etc so it's not that i am a fanboy of any company & here to hate on Nokia...it's still a good company but it's not the so called "king" in mobile industry anymore, like it or not, it's high time you guys realize that & stop whining like 5 year old who gets so sensitive whenever someone says something about your brand...if you're so confident about what you buy then you shouldn't be so vulnerable over some comments that strangers make...unless, deep down you know in your heart that what they say is in fact true...
try out some other phones like i did...sticking to Nokia & fighting strangers over the internet won't win you a free Nokia cell phone...so stop crying already...

symbian is not death, nokia will continue using it, let see what happened this year2011 it said s^3 upgrade to s^4 but in this case instead namely s^4 it is called symbianOS and s^3 and s^4 will be rollout. new interface, new ui,new qtbrowser. just wait and see the biggest improvements of symbianOS and will be back no.1 symbianOS soon. 10years symbian is most powerfull OS than android, ios and KIDS crappy bada os lack of support. 2011 symbian and nokia will continue to compete to other os.

Nokia SHOULD join the Android league to get market share! It's not as if they will abandon Meego or Symbian. It's giving more options to the consumer! Anyway, they won't eat their pride til they experienced the once dying leader - Motorola! Android was their last hope and they proved to be one of the best in smartphone!

How easy was it for the almighty brand! Moto started to offer slide-out qwerty phone with its Android Cliq, then Droid, Milestone, Backflip, Flipout, Droid 2, Milestone 2, Cliq 2....you name it!

I... more(1) It is in fact over, its been over for the past 4 years when Nokia. Its been over since Nokia's E72 and E73 which were successors to Nokia's ever so wonderful E71 was a huge flop. They obviously don't know how to keep up with consumer demands, in a field where consumer demand is everything Nokia is left behind. So you say the N8 and E7 are not "right" devices? I thought Symbian^3 was suppose to be competitive against android and iOS. (2) flagship is what matters, again. Flagship defines the brand, hence the term "FLAG SHIPS". Do you really believe that the white iphone delay is due to a manufacturing problem? You believe that Apple has trouble finding a manufacturer to make a white shell?.. You do know that apple is basically known as the "white" brand due to how many devices uses a glossy white finish right? Anyone with any business sense would know that this is most likely an agreement between Apple and ATT. Hence the reason why the white Iphone appears right before Verizon's Iphone launch and so far the white iphone is only for ATT in the US. (3) So you don't find that comparing one manufacturer's only phone line(apple in this case) to an entire fleet of a well established mobile phone line is not stupid in any sense at all? I'm sure you find it very logical to compare McClaren F1's sales figure of all its generation to Honda's Sales figures of all its vehicles as a good indicator of profitability, sales figures, and brand recognizably huh? (4) Once again, who cares? Everyone is moving away from Qwerty devices, very few manufacturers are still making them. Good Job Nokia, being late to the party. Nokia going from zero market presence to majority leader is an accomplishment indeed! Even though other manufacturers are decreasing the numbers of qwerty devices they make. Look at Palm and blackberry they're slowly going to touchscreens as well. (5) I don't know if you even know what profitability is my friend, heard of the term cash flow? Thats the value you actually want to look at to see how well a company is doing. Failing? I apologize, i need to make it more specific. I thought everyone who actually frequents these mobile phone review sites only gave an interest in smart phones. Market shrink(check), board members shuffling(check), Sales figures of top end devices? I can't tell you this because Nokia is still too embarrass to release this. Apple, Samsung, HTC all have no problems releasing sales figures, but im sure if we give it time Nokia will eventually release sales figures right?
