I think they did have a decent amount of stocks because I was on the site for a good 30 min after the beginning of the sale. After being one of the lucky first 300 buyers for the flash sale that gave extra earphones, case, etc. I found that promotion gone by the time it was 10:07 ish but packages with only the phone were still available and so it would make sense that there were at least a few hundred models available.

They sold all 5 units. I follow tech and I didn't know about it, no way anyone else did.
