The Switch is an incredible device. It is more than likely to take away PS4 and Xbox marketshare.

Mario games are quite different. 2d, 3d, with a water gun, in space with various gameplay elements, 4 player 2d mario (super fun), with a hat he can jump on, tennis, mario party, football (soccer), etc.
You see where I'm going with this?
It's always a new way to play, and it's fun! you're just complaining for no reason. You want your explosions and murder that looks realistic. We have true computer games for that. I don't want to play fallout 4 on a console, nor any first person or third person game where you need to aim.

Nintendo made aiming easy with the Wiimotes and joycons btw.

And the Switch is the fisrt console of this generation. Maybe 4K for the On-The-Go mode is useless and will just wat your battery, but the TV mode should have 4K support.

Based on what Nintendo says on it's website, games cost now 80$, no 4K support and the little things you can attach the system with are even more advanced Wii Motion Plus controllers. The system is cheap but the games are way too expensive.

kgptzac, 13 Jan 2017Will buy if can sideload Play Store and run Android games. It seems it will have a Tegra chipset (likely the X1 or the new one). You may be able to use exploits and install Android TV (or the official Nvidia Shield firmware, or just plain Android), but I don't think it will be Android-based. Android has at least 10 exploits patched a month, with critical vulns like Stagefright giving access to root easily. Nintendo hates vulns. Just for the 3DS, they taken down full games of the online store instead of patching the system (which they did after, but still haven't brought back). This is sad, since Android would raise the system's value sharply.

The thing is Nintendo have always had this thing about family entertainment. And if they didn't change when they realised families dont really play video games then there not going to change now.

It looks like an oversized hand held with tv out and only a 720p screen. Nothing to shout home about.

Will buy if can sideload Play Store and run Android games.
