    Modules are smarter than the gimmicky Will Smith level of thinness that hurts the battery...

    Also, considering how behind many OEM's and carriers are with software updates, maybe modularity will lessen the impact of copping out on support.

      If you say Windows then maybe I will agree with you.
      The only one that can beat Android is Windows. And iOS is a disgrace compared to the two.
      No innovation since Steve Jobs died. I cant wait for apple to be bankrupt. Their phones are just status symbols now.

        I know planned obsolence is the key to succes in mobile business, but it is a shame consumers didn't respond/care about it.
        I mean, spare battery is infinitely better than any external battery, and those "cheap" plastic backs were indestructible compared to glass (or, god forbid, ceramic!) phones of today... Hope this trend goes away, but don't see this happening very soon...

              So in other words it's just another junk, disposable, non-remocable battery phone with useless "modularity".

              It's pathetic that they call a phone that you can't even remove the battery modular. It's nonsense.

              This modularity that work through a proprietary magnetic connector means it is totally useless gimmick. That kind of modularity is nothing more than just a phone case, an attachment. A phone case/cover can do everything that this useless modularity can offer. Look at for example the Samsung's lens cover where you can attach wide angle or optical zoom lens, keyboard cases, ...

              There already are existing REAL modular phones: the phones that have removable battery. You can replace the stock battery to a bigger, higher capacity extended battery for phones that have removable battery. Also, since batteries have short lifespan, it is important to be able to replace the battery when the old battery has worn out. The removable battery is the best and the real modular feature.

              The real modularity means that you can replace/upgrade the hardware of the phone: camera, CPU, RAM, storage and of course the battery.

                Of course it will run android. I'm betting on this one, I guess modules will snap on the bottom of the phone (that charging bit plus the fact that they're working on a 360 module, which means it should fit on the edge of the device).
                Proprietary connectors in 2017 is an awful idea unless you're Apple, but they might pull it off if it makes sense and they have a good supply chain and customer service. Like I said, I'm betting on this one.
