Do you... moreI've spoken to some developers and the revenue is so tiny from ads that the app really has to be a huge hit with millions of users to maintain decent app revenue. Some things are niche which would make someone more by charging a lower rate for a one time purchase than to use ads.

Those people still make a living making free apps which comes with ads. Those ads on free apps generates more money than paid apps that user only pay once. The ads will stay forever so, it literally generate money forever although the app users not paying anything. The same way how Youtube works. All the videos is free but the long dreadful ads at the beginning of each video thay you cant skip is all 'money'. In the end, there is no such thing as 'free'. Everything is money even if they labeled it as free. The sales you see in supermarket with the 'Buy 1 get 1 for free'. Yeah, right. The only free thing is money given to beggar on the street.

I absolutely needed it on my Galaxy Note and iPad... had do pay for the second.
I don't know any more but honestly I am using my iPad only for very specific reasons.

Apps on Android are more likely to be free to download with add support because it means people will be less likely to pirate. The alternative is people side loading the game. Go to India or some other poor countries and you will see this. The favoured platform of pirates is Android.

Android user have option either use apps with Adv (free) or free frm Adv (paid).. This doesn't mean Android user doesn't care at all.
Apps owner still generates earning either frm selling Apps or Adv..
