I don't understand why you need to worry about update which will bring minor changes? I think monthly security updates are much more important.
If you want good updates for 3 years you need to choose iphone. Because of many different manufacturers android will never be good for updates.
But still I don't see big differences in latest updates.

This is absolutely ridiculous. So first I contacted Samsung today which is 1/16/17 and asked about the s7 edge nougat update. Samsung told me it's not "legally" released yet. What does that even mean??? Seriously?? So they told me to contact Google for further support. So I contact Google. Google tells me that I must contact my carrier in order to find out about the update. I contact my carrier (us cellular). They tell me that they haven't heard anything about an Android 7.0 update and I must contact the manufacturer of the phone aka Samsung. So I muster the strength to not lose my mind and call Samsung again. Samsung again wasn't able to help me with this. I'm officially given up and I'm definitely not looking at getting a Samsung phone in the future. I'd much rather pick up a Google phone. It's completely unacceptable, I mean, how much do we pay for these phones? A lot. Far too much to have to worry about these issues.

Anonymous, 17 Jan 2017You realize Apple develop their hardware and software toget... moreAnd it is not an excuse for one of the most powerful and influential companies on the world to not even have a steady and constant update cycle. And people complain about the pixel...... time to throw themselves of a cliff.

Have to say Apple are very good with updates. Almost straight away with any issues. Unfortunately with Samsung, they will only support for a short time - and even that short time, the actual support is poor. I had a SGS5, and didn't get the android update till nearly 1.5years later. By then I already upgraded. See you Samsung hello Apple. Now, my phone is just too smooth.

It all a tricky matter to consider. I am using Samsung for more than 6 yrs. When i see update at the beginning of each year it will be released just before the New Handsets to be launched. It is just my experience and understanding towards Samsung. So update will roll out by the end of February or March earlier. In April samsung galaxy S8 will be launched. Thats it. It is a perfect plan Samaung. Keep doing it.

AnonD-504966, 17 Jan 2017wtf Samsung... how Apple always give updates at the time...... You realize Apple develop their hardware and software together right? Android has to be implemented across dozens of different models with different UI and specs

AnonD-69139, 17 Jan 2017This is Why i don't use any other phone except sony, right ... moreI was in the Sony train since the ZL, COMPACT 1,3,5...LOVED THEM ALL. BUT the GS7 was too tempting and I do love it. The only reason I went with a AT&T version was it had band 30 which is in my market and the unlocked GS7 does not support that band.
But this delay is very disappointing as I have received 3 minor updates over the last couple weeks but no Nougat... they need to rethink this process
