AnonD-598579, 18 Jan 2017How many units of Switch do you think were for pre-order? 1... moreWe don't know whether it will do well over the long run, but to sell out pre-orders, assuming a reasonable amount of manufactured units, is a good sign for Nintendo.

I personally find that the one player experience on the big two consoles is increasingly becoming a jaded experience, with only so much new graphics and power can bring. (VR is another story).

This is where the Switch shines, it is truly a fun multiplayer experience and I think it will do well where the Wii U fell short.

AnonD-634421, 17 Jan 2017The price is hefty, that I will agree on but the fact that ... moreHow many units of Switch do you think were for pre-order? 10.000, maybe 100.000. Yeah, that sounds like much but in reality those numbers reflect only the true fans and maybe the ones who need to get their hands on the latest hardware every time (not so much people).
The same was for Wii U, everybody rushed to buy it at the beginning (Nintendo was so thrilled) and then the total number of units sold was 10 millions, which is child play comparing to the 60 million of PS4 sold for example (and also the Wii U is 1 year older then the PS4).
So, don't open the champagne just yet because some pre-order units sold out in the beginning..

Filburt, 18 Jan 2017I think, taht there is no reason at all to compare a gaming... moreNot comparing, but like myself most of the normal people that don't have lot's of money, don't afford a Switch, a PS4/Xbox One and eventually a PC to play all the games.
So if I had to choose for a gaming device (for relaxing and so on) I will choose a PC because the PC let's me do also other things then playing games. If I had the money I probably bought all 3 devices..
That is why I said I don't understand how someone could pay 300euros for the Switch (someone who theoretically doesn't afford to). Because the majority of people already have a PC/console/smartphone who they use for entertainment.. so the 300euros Switch is just a plus and not necessarily a need..

An endless runner Mario / press-and-jump Mario is very, VERY different from a full-fledged Mario game.

I think, taht there is no reason at all to compare a gaming console to a SmartPhone or a gaming PC. The three offer a totally different gaming experience at all. I totally enjoyed Shadow of the collossus or maybe God of War Trilogy even if a PC can have similar games with better graphics for a similar price. Or I have played games like WOW or maybe counter Strike in a PC that a console could never offer. Its just a different experience. And now a little more o Topic. Nintendo makes games that have PLAYABILITY like no others, lets see, like super smash or maybe mario party (yeah the N64 ones) that have the guarantee that you'll have fun even if it didnt have LAST gen graphics.

NINTENDO has a massive following and they have always made great games IMO. The Switch will be judged on the availability of great software and seeing a new Zelda and Mario game coming out this year will determine that.

I already preorder and don't compare console games with phone games. It totally different. I rather pay $59 (ppl complain its expensive) for Zelda and enjoy it for the rest of my life. Or you could spend $1000 or more for COC and still stuck in the middle of the game.

AnonD-237590, 17 Jan 2017its cheap and fun, no wonder its out of stock Hardly cheap. You can get a Xbox one or ps4 bundle and then some, for less. But from another perspective, my current phone is still buttery smooth, so I might as well keep of for another year or two and buy the Nintendo switch for even less than I'd spend on a phone.

AnonD-625786, 17 Jan 2017It's Nintendo, and marketing. Many people love Nintendo and... moreYeah their marketing it's pretty good that's why Nintendo Wii U sold so good.
                            And yes I was ironic..
Marketing it's good when you have something to back that out with. If not, it can do more damage on the long run..
I'm not saying that Nintendo Switch will do bad, I wish them to succeed, but in this era when more and more advance gadgets appear you have to bring something new to the table..

If they were going for a portable console, maybe a true successor to the 3DS would've been better. You would easily get Switch specs into a true handheld console. Only time will tell about the success of the switch. But right now, especially in other markets, the price of this is a bit outrageous compared to current devices available.

Console games on the go. Think of it like the evolution of the telephone: originally you were tied down to a corded phone in your house, then a wireless phone in your house, and now with cell phones you can take and use your phone almost anywhere.
