A pair of new smartphones from Huawei and Honor pass through TENAA

21 January 2017
The Honor-branded unit has a dual-camera design, reminiscent of the Honor 8, while the Huawei one oddly shares its styling.

For me it has to be a combination of things. Design, great camera and a feature rich user experience and occasionally a physical keyboard. Not a fan of stock or bare bones OS which is maybe why I've always appreciated Samsung and blackberry (I love the speed, smooth transition, the look of stock but I dunno, bores me after a while).

geewaiho, 23 Jan 2017Then we are cool 👍. Chill out, buddy. Not picking up a fight with you but rather just voice out some of my dissapointment in current society and of course, smartphone these days. But well, designs aside.I much prefer the photography experience on the smartphone itself(I accidentally drop and broke my DSLR which is pretty heartbroken since it ain't cheap at all),what's your main interest in a smartphone?

Probably Honor 9?. Because Honor 8 was released way back in China, so they might release the successor in April.

Ahaaaa! I knew for sure that Huawei will out door at least 2 or 3 very good phones before their main biggest flagship phone comes in March or April. Please the honor I see there will be a flagship phone I believe. I like the honor brand because their prices are good and the phones very good too, good value for your money. 5'7 inches of screen display is very good as people are gradually tending to like big screen. Big screen but small body should be your excellence. The 5’7 should feel in the hands like 5'3 or 5'4 . More people will love your phones this way. Thank you.

I have a background design and its disheartening to see companies rip from each other rather then innovate. I never bashed anyone for supporting said companies and have highlighted in my posts how I admire certain products in their lines(Huawei).

Also the last paragraph of my previous statements does point out that Huawei will ultimately reach a point where they will have created a design thats uniquely their own so Im not damning them, just clearly highlighting my disappointment.

geewaiho, 22 Jan 2017Nothing wrong with being inspired but flat out copying just... moreMost of the phones material was really different than the past, Huawei might lack the innovation in design but that's the thing what others do as well.Samsung was using plastic until S4 when they change to faux-leather looking back for S5 and Note 4 then they make a major change in S6 design materials,Apple still go for their alluminium alloy material for quite some time.Huawei might realize the usage of such materials(Samsung metal and glass or Apple alluminium alloy) might impact on weight or heat management of a phone, but then the design they can craft for will be really limited and might appear almost identical to a certain device ala Samsung or Apple devices.Chinese Iphone-lookalike was other brand than Huawei as far as I know such as Oppo and Vivo,Huawei might reserve their best design for their own "P" and "Mate" flagship. No hard feelings or backing up on certain brand, but each of them didn't have their own original design anymore.Reality are hard to swallow with some people out there, fanboy just makes it worse by starting the phone design war now.

Aadam, 22 Jan 2017Pfff honor 8 is a clone of s6.. ? Bruh..doesn't even look ... moreThey look very similar, the shape maybe more rectangular but Huawei is know for using aluminium bodies not glass. They have adopted glass bodies, metal frame, use of liquid glass which Samsung popularised. Its pretty obvious Huawei were 'inspired' by the S6/S7.
Thats not to say the Honor 8 is not attractive, its a great looking phone but lets not kid ourselves thats its an original aesthetic. Even the Mate 9 porche design is a rip off of the edge 6 /edge 6 + and the honor magic looks like the s7 edge but with thicker bezels.

Techreviewer, 22 Jan 2017Apple was Apple. Samsung was Samsung. Huawei was Huawei. ... moreNothing wrong with being inspired but flat out copying just shows a lack of creative integrity and identity in a industry that's incredibly competitive and over saturated.

Samsung obviously copied Apple in the past but have since created there own aesthetic. Huawei is doing what Samsung do years ago but they are an amalgamation of iPhone and and Samsung desgn.

Huawei will eventually reach a point where there designs are uniquely there own and stand out amongst the sea of Chinese iphone lookalikes, just as Samsung has made glass, metal band hybrid there own design.

Anonymous, 22 Jan 2017I am not a fan of Samsung or Huawei but although Samsung is... moreI agree completely. Huawei is like Asus. They are a mess and disorganized. We cant see which is which. Which phone is midrange, flagship or budget. We dont even know its a successor of which phone. Huawei, you need to name your phone better and design better. The successor looks nothing like the predecessor. Honor become huawei, huawei become honor. What are you doing???

                              Apple was Apple.
                              Samsung was Samsung.

That's all,why the hell people keep saying this smartphone copy the other smartphone design?Well then,Iphone 7 Plus copy the dual-lens camera that's come out from Huawei P9 and etc. first?Stop being retarded and become a total fanboy on certain brand,is there any copyright for the design anyway?Bashing one product are way pathetic.

That phone without the honor branding is possibly the successor of huawei p9 lite (p10 lite), because they have similar screen size and footprint. If this will be successor, it'll be great.
