04 February, 2011

AnonD-843, 06 Feb 2011which all phones u know have optical zoom?? And most of the... more Let me correct you.a led flash can never be good enough for video recording ingles the mobile has a sensor twice that of the n8 and the frame rate is dropped to about 4fps. Seriously, including led flashes is nothing more than a manufactures gimmick. They are useless for photography.

There is a difference between how far the light of your led flash is visible and how far its usable for recording videos. Someone here said 20m. Lmao. The xenon flash on the nokia n82.the brightest for any mobile, of useless got pics at 4m our less in pitch blackness talkless some stupid led flash. The dual led on the nokia n86 is one off the brightest. It can't shoot usable videat more than 1m. Mobile cameras require more light than the human eye. That a flash is god enough for a touch light doesn't make out good enough for a pic.

LED flash is not strong. Heck then even need to use dual LED flash for phones these days and even then its not strong as Xenon when it comes to taking pictures. 15m, 20m, 100m or 1km for that matter. Take some pics in "TOTAL DARKNESS" and post some camping videos of interesting things at night using just LED light which is decent and justifies the trolling then everyone in this forum will concede. Why? Because unlike your arguments, there's a ton of evidence showing how good the video and picture taking capabilities of the N8 are, including in low light, and how nonsense is LED light being effective in "TOTAL DARKNESS" vs Xenon flash. Period.

Man if you don't like the Nokia N8 and think just because it doesn't have a LED flash for video recording, or think the N8 is a pathetic excuse of a phone, no one's forcing you to buy it. If you like the Satio because of the LED flash, then get it. Seriously, why get so worked up with a phone. I get worked up if the stock market drops by a few hundred points.

AnonD-291, 06 Feb 2011"more like 2m max if you ask me" NO....Mine ... morewhich all phones u know have optical zoom?? And most of them will not fit in ur pocket. 3x digital zooming is available which doesnt degrade much quality. More than 3x is possible thats why they didnt include more than that and its already been stated by nokia before. Nokia camera interface be crappy but it has all the features needed. N8 doesnt have any more space to put another LED. The LED ones might have nice video recording capability in total darkness but can it take quality photos using xenon flash?

My camera too stands at MAX 4 m at "medium/low" light condition.
BUT it goes 15m+ in "total darkness". The LED flash range increases as darkness increases, as there are no other source of light to cancel that out. puke as much as u want, I dont care if u dont believe me. I will try to upload a photo of it, if i get a chance.

"I said TOTAL DARKNESS (THERE I BOLD IT FOR YOU SINCE YOU CANT READ MY PREVIOUS POST PROPERLY)"

Is there anything wrong with taking videos in total darkness ? What if u went camping and u want to take a video of something interesting at night where there is no source of light? There can be many such opportunities that can come up at night. It can even be used as a flashlight.

Anyway what I want to say is that
Optical Zooming is better than Digital
And having LED light is better than "low light capabilities".
(having both is definitely a plus)

Nokia N8 is an okay phone. The camera has always been Nokia's force since the beginning and it's still brilliant. It has a strobe flash unlike most mobiles, which is unique. Yes it's not for video but sure makes your photos better in low light. Sure you cannot record video in total darkness, but only weirdos does that with a mobile?
For iOS and Android and even Bada users, Symbian might seem oldschool, but nothing wrong with that imo. Every OS has it's fans/supporters. I'm an Android user but have been a Symbian user since the beginning of the century.

People on these forums are predjudiced in favour of one phone or another.
It is time you all realised that, the three big platforms, Nokia, Apple and the androids are all sufficiently different from each other, to enable all three to survive and prosper for many years to come.

So stop slagging each other off!

                          1. To know which phone you comparing this to (obviously you have 1 on your mind from the way you post or you already have it and speak from your experience with it)?

                          2. What are the out of the box features that you talk about? I seen some of them mentioned below but could you please list them for me along with the other ones you mentioned below?

                          3. What is it that would satisfy you to make the N8 appealing to you that Nokia have clearly left out and which dissatisfies you?

                          4. What phone do you use and maybe plan on getting in the near future?

Please could you clarify this for me so I can maybe get a better understanding of what is it that ticks you off about the N8. looking forward to your reply.

is because the n8 has a largest sensor when compared with any camera phone and some compact digi cams. That advantage allows the camera to capture more light thus LED is highly unnecessary.
