Photos of Nokia E6-00 leak, does it have a touchscreen or not?

06 February, 2011
The Nokia E6-00 has been laying low for almost a month but it resurfaced with the first photos of the device. The photos confirm the QWERTY bar form factor and the camera resolution but don't give us much more...

Ok, and its a touchy screen again... So its the 3 as well and u want it touchy.. ok Mr. solve this. I've got both a num pad phone runs s60 fp2 and a 5th gen touchy screen... I walk in rainy days as I work outdoors. Yet they got wet and very wet on that touch pad and I guess both are in same bag on waist... So the num pad old phone did survive and still can be used and call for help... but the new phone just cannot even turn on and black screen and ding dong (shake hand music only) for you.. then it gone crazy and dududududud you ok... how u buy things then

I'm sure it's just a prototype. According to my sources Nokia are planning to release new, more powerful phones this year running Symbian 3.

It surely looks ugly! Also, there seemed to be no talk about the E6 on MWC yet. So far, i think Nokia e5 leads the league for the perfect balance of price and features by Nokia. Get out of the Nokia shop and you find a few handsome competitors in the Android shop..

Ugly phone. E71 is much more sleek than this posted phone. Was waiting to upgrade my E71 to the E6 and not sure now if it looks like the leaked picture. Alas, we will all become android or apple converts soon unless Nokia ca get its act together.

Anonymous, 08 Feb 2011 Its silly to assume you know more than the people at nokia... moreNokia has made devices in this class with a larger screen before, so discounting 2.8" as impossible is not realistic. However, I do agree that a 3" or larger screen would have to be in portrait orientation, or the phone would become too wide for one-handed operation.

AT33, 08 Feb 2011The screen looks too small to be a touch screen enabled pho... more Its silly to assume you know more than the people at nokia. Asa previous e71 user, I can tell you that the placement of the keyboard on this device is better than that on the e71/72. On these devices, the bottom row of keys were a pain to use especially during one hand operation. The space left on the bottom is vital to improve the typing experience.

Secondly, the screen couldn't possibly have been any bigger than it is. Not on this concept. Nokia wanted to make a candy bar full qwerty device with a 4:3 landscape screen. Making the screen larger means making it fatter and there obviously is no room for that. The d pad is essential for an e series device.

For those of you still doubting, this device is confirmed. Vga capacitive screen. Probably 2.55 inches.

Anonymous, 07 Feb 2011If it's trackpad still operates like E72's & still carr... moreIf it has Symbian^3, it can't have a QVGA screen, and a 2.36" or 2.6" VGA screen does not make much sense. If it has no soft keys like the phone in the leaked pictures, it can't be S60 v3.2, either. So the phone in the pictures is either fake or some earlier prototype, which may not have much to do with the real E6-00.

If it has touchscreen, it will not need a trackpad. The D-pad could be there to help positioning the cursor accurately for document editing etc. Capacitative touch sucks at precision.

very ugly phone. But I expect that nokia has placed a extra-big and powerful battery on this unit, otherwise it will be a chame...

The screen looks too small to be a touch screen enabled phone. A lock slider can be used on non-touch phones as well. I see a lot of wasted space at the bottom though! At least 1cm could have been used to move the keyboard down and make the screen by 1cm bigger. The middle row wouldnt be needed either if it were a touch screen which would have made it into a huge touch screen with a four row QWERTY keyboard at the bottom (kind of like the Palm Pixi) That would have been a bad ass phone!!!
