Yeah, strong engine (SoC) matters? On a car with slow gearbox( OS) and small wheels (RAM)? It could be better in short term, but after a year, not really.

Integrated between component and software make good phone, you sure use some weird terminology. As you test phones often you should know OS plays vital role. I've notice when changing ROM on my Galaxy Ace 2:
1) Android 4.1.2 causes lag, even when indicated RAM increases to 768MB instead of 512 on 2.3.6 (means it recognises full RAM volume).
2) CM 11 causes less lag but drains battery fast.
3) Certain version of CM 12 causes bootloop, Dalvik cache wipe didn't help
4) CM 13 have camera bug- camera won't work. Lags as hell.
I literaly f@ck up my phone that ran smoothly just because I wanted new OS. Now it won't run like before even with stock 2.3.6 anymore. But still 2.3.6 is the most stable.
I've seen your argument about device lag, now let me educate you:
1) low battery: because the phone switch to saver mode automatically
2) many opened apps: Android has quasi-multitasking- apps running too rong in background and has no priority will be automatically closed, their last action saved and reactivated after reopening.
3) browsing with many tabs- tabs work the same way as apps- inactives one are closed and get actived latter- their "tab icon" is still shown and their last page address are saved. Even
4) downloading big files- eat up your band, slowing browsing, not your phone
5) unstable LTE- really???
6) heat, bugs: SD 430 is not SD 810. No reported bugs yet
If not for great optimalization and large RAM (help your phone load large apps data faster, helps your phone running smoother even after years) a phone with SD 430 could not even run Nougat, let alone that smoothly. I'am sorry but your arguments are invalid. Ofcourse I'am waiting for Nokia flagship but I think N6 is pretty good too.
PS: Redmi 3 pro is only 1-2 months older than 3s, check Techaltar for "Why oems choose wrong chips" and good luck with Nokia 6 testing.

If it all about chipset then why not to have SD 821 and 1GB RAM+ heavily modified UI with tons of bloatware?
Do you know the purpose of CPU, RAM, GPU. I dont interest to explain what I know and I believe you know.
A) CPU is central, if CPU is week and other strong, nothing.
B) CPU is strong, other is week, Strong CPU could make that "other is week" to run in his peak potential, that purpose of having strong CPU.
So for me, if you have to choose, I choose B option. Integrated between component and software make good phone, and CPU is central.
Lets say Nokia is better than Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and other that ever use SD4xx. And how much different? Remember, no phone is lag free, event flagship is lag. Then how SD430? Low-entry to $250. Better to wait if you really want to purchase Nokia devices.

Yes you have the point that we test a phone, integrated between component and software make good phone. Redmi 3s better than Redmi 3 pro, yes I do believe since I have tested both. Why? Integrated between component and software, and also latest phone (if not always) better than old one. But how about phone powered with SD625-SD650? you want to compare with SD430 phone? Dont forget SD6xx include SD625-SD650.

The SD430 is actually better than SD615 and SD616.
But SD430 is new processor and SD615 and SD616 are last year model :D

Before you answer me with something like "There are still stronger SD 6xx"- we use phones, not chips. A good chip is nothing when the rest is rubbish. You as a reviewer should know that the best.

Look at Redmi 3s (SD 430) VS Redmi 3 pro (SD 616), especially at AnTuTu 6 and Basemark OS II. Those tests value phone as a complex (SoC, RAM, OS). Redmi 3 pro with SD 616 looses at both. Any other argument? I really love ppl like you, pretending to be a pro. We are not that uninformed.

Anonymous, 25 Jan 2017SD430 is faster than SD615.. Technology evolves.. Newer SD4... moreOf course technology evolve but how can SD4XX better than SD6XX? Tell me one example. The purpose is different, the price is different, and Qualcomm make it to fill the gap and market not to compete each other. Please think, why they make SD 430 better than SD6XX when the price is below? Suicide? Have you ever use SD4xx before? And use SD6XX? HAVE YOU EVER COMPARE IT?

What a pro you are. You remind me C.L. Gadget on YT. A really funny guy- nowadays everyone can start a tech channel or write pro reviews. If it all about chipset then why not to have SD 821 and 1GB RAM+ heavily modified UI with tons of bloatware? As I have seen reviews on YT that thing can surprise you how smooth it can be. The news is camera comparisions made by RTS could be fake. Maybe Nokia 6 cam can be even better (or not). Make a new, fresh design these day for a company that just started their bussiness is suicidal. Nokia 6 is boring, but mark my words. It will do it job to help Nokia comeback.

But for copying, that different mean about your word "copying" and how Manufacturer word "copying". Lets hope that Nokia, Xiaomi, One+ will improve to make samsung rethink their price tag for their midrange. But please dont be hater. Use S7 or S8 once available, that will be your favorite.

Samsung Copying Apple? Apple will sue them if they do. and why you look upset? I asking you: who the first vendor/phone use 4G? then why other is following? they copy? follow? why dont they skip it and use 5G or 6g or what ever? Oppo is the first using fast charge, why other using it now? copy? follow?
