Samsung Galaxy S8 to have up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, new rumor says

31 January 2017
Before you get too excited, though, note that this amount of RAM could only be inside devices headed for select Asian markets.

I don't see why they wouldn't have 6gb of ram. Their flagship phone usually matches the spec of any phones that are in the market now and there are phones pushing 6gb ram or more. Granted there isn't really a need for 6gb but it does make it more future proof.

Why would a mobilephone require 8GB of RAM. Apparently Android is not optimized at all if so much RAM is needed...

Lapax, 01 Feb 2017Why don't they just make one with 10GB ram and get it over with.Or better yet, how about 16 gb of ram that could cover them for 3 years

Maccyb, 31 Jan 2017No 256 GB = FAIL sorry samsung. Embedded flash is mostly irrelevant. You can always buy a micro-SD. They're up to 256GB these days I here (and will probably go higher in the following years).

Internal Flash is only needed for OS/apps and 128GB is plenty, in fact 64GB would be enough.

Micro-SD is for everything else (videos, movies, pictures, music). It's better to have those in micro SD as it would be easier to get them in diff devices too. So -yeah- it's irrelevant that it has no 256GB version, in fact 128GB is overkill given that it supports MicroSD (which is better for data/personal content anyway).

Making 64gb a base model considering SD card slot is also there, paired with 4GB of ram sounds very reasonable. China is a peculiar market where more cores and more ram rules, even if there is no benefit to having them.

But that's beyond the point. Samsung used to live in the bleeding edge as far as specs go (for example they were the first to use 3GB of ram, basically the first quad core, FHD , etc).

Now that their phones are pricier than ever, it is now that also cut back on hardware ... weird.
