iOS 11 may not support 32-bit apps

31 January 2017
A rewording of a notice in the iOS 10.3 beta hints at that.

I hope all apps get fixed... For example Goolge Hangouts works awful on iPhone 7... I use it for work in conference video calls my battery dies easily and the phone heats up... We tried switching to ZOOM app and it is working awesome - no battery drainage nor heat up!

Many apps continues to use 32bits and support only resolution of iPhone 4/42, games like Flight Control from Namco or Final Fantasy War of Lions of Square Enix, don´t has been updated. Will this app taken out of app store?

very good decision , Apple, Android should alsopromote 64-bit apps(not yet cut them like IOS, because Android is always slower in getting new things), 64-bit apps are more stable, secure , a bit more fast in intensive tasks and make better use of the new 4-8gb ram devices.

the tech nerd, 01 Feb 2017This thing is needed with Android too, I mean how many apps... moreyea, how much? sure, not enough. Why remove some good apps? even if those apps are outdated, they work pretty good on devices.

Anonymous, 31 Jan 2017Like ios apps even utilise 64 bits... They're killing 32 bi... moreSir you know the 32 bit apps are improper utilisation of CPU register space. Why should inefficient apps be allowed to run just because developer is lazy (iOS 9 came with required framework to update app for 64 bit. In theory app performance would be much better since CPU can process more data resulting in smoother app performance)is beyond me

no matter what news about apple , even it's nothing to do with android still will hurts android user feeling ...

This thing is needed with Android too, I mean how many apps in our mobile are just running 32 bit

This could actually be a good way to filter outdated apps. The Appstore has become big enough, what it needs now is trimming. Lots of it.

It's like win 64 bits wouldn't be compatible with less than 4 gigs of ram

Like ios apps even utilise 64 bits... They're killing 32 bit apps off even though 64 bit os is backwards compatible. It's the same as with the headphone jack, maybe even worse.
