The apple's financial report clearly mentions the number of units sold which are much less than figures mentioned here.

This is a very misleading stat. Only true because no one else can make iOS phones. If you counted all android OEM's as one "smartphone player" then Apple would be no where near the top. It's like saying that Sony is the leading maker of Blueray discs, assuming no one else made them, compared to other forms of DVD.

A lot of note users(i'm one of them), were waiting for Note 7 to become safe, to replace their aging phones.

Anonymous, 01 Feb 2017Well think of how many companies of phones use android then... moreJust like in my other comment, to the same guy you replied to - you're not choosing the best example. Too much choice is just as bad as too little, especially if it's unorganized, the way Android world is.

What i'd chose is this: To an average consumer, Android and iOS are the same. Some people prefer one, others another. Heck, as an example, my mother in law was swearing at her new iphone6s, after using Android for years. She got her Galaxy Alpha working and figured everything out in a day, but with iPhone it too her a week. Why? because app configuration settings are done completely differently in iOS from every other OS. Even MacOS has it's settings within the App, but not iOS. Now that she has finally figured it out - she likes it. A few months ago she was boasting about how now her new and shiny iPhone lasts almost 2 days, something her Galaxy Alpha couldn't do, just before it died. Now after those few months, she loaded up her iPhone with apps, and it lags and drains the battery in a day, just like the Alpha did.

                          See what I mean?

Funny, 01 Feb 2017Samsung has about 191 models with an average price at $204 ... moreI usually don't comment on people saying crap, but this i juts had to respond to... 191 models? Care to elaborate?
Apple sells current models as high end - iphone 7 and 7 Plus
previous years models as mid-high - iphone 6s and 6s Plus
                            and a mid-end - iphone SE.
                            This makes it 5

                            Samsung has:
                            - Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, S7 Active - as high end
                            - Note 7, if it wasnt' dead, would have been a high end productivity model
                            - S6 and S6 Edge are last years models, with old stocks running out. So availability is sporadic, but let's entertain these two as well - mid-high end models
                            - J3 and J7 - Low End. Available only on certain markets.
                            - C7 and C9 - Low End. Available only on certain markets.
                            - A3, A5, A7 - Mid End Premium Build, also not available everywhere.

This makes it 13 Total, with only 4 to 5 globally available in any given market.

Don't know about you, but looks like market specific decisions.
Not everyone in say Kazakhstan, Syria or Somalia is able to afford an iphone you know...

Besides, what's with the average price? Are you happy that you're paying that much to Apple? I'm not happy that my phone costs $850 for example. I'd much rather pay $50 and not worry that i'll drop it and it could break, but i realize that for fifty bucks, i'm going to get a flip-phone from 1999. We all get what we pay for.

So unless you're making money of Apple selling iPhones, your average price argument is just dumb.

Funny, 01 Feb 2017Samsung has about 191 models with an average price at $204 ... moreWell think of how many companies of phones use android then think how many companies use IOS. The IOS is only from apple so that's what makes the numbers big.
Phones that use android is like 100 different companies and 1000 different models.

But well I don't care about the numbers and so on I will never buy my self a Apple product and I am not a fan of Samsung to. At least with android I can be different then others and not like with IOS same like everyone.

I would like to give Apple support, in securing first worldwide 17.8%share, on Top of Most Expensive retail, throughout the Year. Visually looks like nothing extra night hardware or software, but it's continously demand, even when iPhone 7 plus could not make big difference. Still people buy like wild rats?
