I feel that this generation of smartwatches has too many compromises. It tries to do too many things and ends up with a doing too little well. I recently came across this site Kronaby.com and it promotes its watches as connected watch, not a smartwatch. It is essentially an analog watch with a few connectivity features. As such the watch runs for about 2 years without need to change battery. I think this is the way to go. Focus on some really useful features and do it well.

So logically smartwatches for android will never take off.
As for the excuse that rich also buy Android, they make up only the minority. And they will end up with no accessories / casing nor support if they pick an android wear.

For the amount it demands you could get a Moto 360, Gear S2 and even an Apple Watch if you shell out little extra, which are full fledged smart watches. About fitness tracking in fitbits i found more accurate data in my S6 edge's S Health App than what my Charge HR showed. Blaze is a half tracker and half smartwatch kind of.

The first good Android smartwatch was the Huawei Watch.... then samsung came and released the Gear S3 which is good too. Apart from these two, everything has been 'meh'

Gear S3 is the best smartwatch so far but still doesn't justify the asking price. I use an android wear but you soon realise this thing is a hyped.
