You're so sure about the future product not including the appropriate software & hardware necessary for it to be a actual 8K low light performing/non overheating cam? Initially, size of the cam would be bigger but a few years down the line it'll be slim again.

Sony FDR-X3000R is much better.

But more stupid is thinking that it will record in 8k... DO you really know what 8k is? You can count by the fingers of your hands the number of cameras that can record 8k. Silly statement!
Also, the GoPro is too expensive. It's a great camera but there are already some very capable cameras that cost half the price. The new GoPro to succeed has to do 4k/60fps with mechanical image stabilization, a better screen (the one on the 5 is not very responsive), a much better battery life (all GoPro's suck at that) and probably some features like hdr photo and video!

Even 2K you can see it's not that sharp. It's also future proofing your memories else many years from now, you'll be watching pixelated videos of your recording.

The best thing they can do is provide a compact gimbal as a bundled.

Maybe you can explain to me how you can get 8K, 4K@120fps and night vision from a tiny image sensor in a small body without the overheating and many other problems.
8K UHD is a resolution of 7680 × 4320 (33.2 megapixels) if you increase the resolution of image sensor in GoPro from 12MP to 33.2MP the sensor pixel size would be to small and low light performance would be horrible.

It's better to release one every 2 years. Right now with so many decent 1080p ones going at $60 CAD, GoPRO needs to reduce their price to compete. Most consumers are happy with 1080p. Shooting at 4K is useless if you don't even have something to view it on at 4K...
