11 February, 2011
It has been just a day after Nokia announced its extensive collaboration with Microsoft and already a Nokia concept with Windows Phone 7 was revealed. Even though it's just a prototype, the first lovechild...

In the past I used to own various Nokia phones, but since then changed to other phones becuase I wanted a "smart phone" for business. I didn't like the Nokia operating system as a Smartphone OS. This, however looks very promising. My next phone might just be a Nokia again!

I certainly hope that an E7-like WP7 model will become available very soon.

Go on Nokia and WP7. I think this combination will be a great success if they work hard enough. I have been using nokia (nokia n93, n95,5800xm )for years but decided to jump to Android this year. Having used used android (Htc Desire HD) I have changed my mind about it. It is very flakey and leaky, very poor with battery, apps and processes running without your knowledge. And I will not buy iphone cos it is too restricted and most of the features like bluetooth do not work.So nokia and microsoft, go on and produce a device to beat all the others. I am looking forward to it. I believe that those who say wp7 is crappy have not used it and know nothing about it. I have seen and tried the wp7 by HTC and it is pretty good and fast. I am hoping that the mighty Nokia can beat that.

First devices will not be that good at all, but with WP8 they can rocket smartphone industry with iOS5.

I hope that every high-end device that will be released in the future by Nokia has front camera. I wonder why there are so many high-end / smartphones (besides Nokia) have no front camera? It's an important thing I think if we're talking about smartphone.

Nokia + MS Phone7 = compete with BB & iPhone (just in their dreams). Phone7 OS is good but i see no reason why most will go for a overpriced halfbaked mobile when most Premium Androids do far better.

in the corporate sector it'll be a hit. in the entertainment section, a miss.

grazzz, 12 Feb 2011the people who bought N8 and c7 that what we call symbian v... moreI'm sorry to say it, but you're an idiot... First of all, I have no idea what a keypad OS is and I couldn't find anything on it, but I'll assume by your tone that it's not something good about Symbian. The fact of the matter is that most people have no idea what a "smartphone" really is and they can't be blamed for that because it's something hard to define in the first place. The fact that you say that IOS and Android were born smartphone platforms is what makes you an idiot (IOS barely had multitasking in the first place; Sony Ericsson's A100 platform had about as much multitasking ability as the first Iphone). There is nothing wrong with Symbian other than the fact that it came late to the game of app development. And even with limited support, there is still little that Android or IOS can do that Symbian can't. Try to remember that not too long ago, Android had no built-in file browser or could only install applications in built-in memory (can you think of a bigger after-thought than that?). It's true, Symbian does look old-fashioned and unpolished compared to the new generation of shiny touchscreen devices, but if what's under the hood matters more, it's still quite capable.
If installing angrybirds or whatever game turns a phone into a smartphone, then think about the N-Gage...that phone can run Tomb Raider and it was launched almost a decade ago.
The fact of the matter is that there are no more smartphones...There are only phones. Today only the simplest and cheapest of phones do not have the modding capabilities to be programed to do what the users want from them.
A couple of years ago, if you wanted a browser on your phone, you installed it... Now most phones come with a browser built right in; same goes for mail, social networking etc.
Smartphones are going the way of the personal computers and this good, but it's also bad because it puts technology in the hands of idiots who don't know how to use it to its full potential.
To give you an example, I put my Nokia 5230 (with garmin mobile and SPB mobile shell) against a bunch of other phones running either windows mobile (Omnia II), Iphones or Androids and the users of the other phones had to admit that there was nothing wrong with my phone: the interface looked nice, the phone did almost the sama stuff as their phones did; the only downside was the fact that the 5230 was slower, but I'm getting that fixed with a CPU overclock.
In my opinion, this is what made smartphones popular in the first place:modding. And this is where Symbian is still a very capable OS. What I don't understand is why doesn't Nokia ditch S30 and S40 and build phones only with Symbian and WP7. Blackberry relies only on smartphones and it's not doing that bad either.
And just for the record: Android and IOS look like CRAP when put side by side with Web OS. Even the Puma phone by Sagem looks better and cleaner than those two...

First impression is a last impression.........

according to this saying if they won't able to attract customer in first time than i think it will be very hard for them to capture market.

Hope for the best for Nokia and Microsoft.

Hope that Linux fans will crack it, which will open the highway to install Android on Windows 7 devices including this one. The bet of android is that it is open source vs proprietary (world vs micro$oft). Great design indeed, but a crappy OS inside.
