This can be a good move nokia have to improve resolution of their phones. (Over all nokia have best hardware no doubt in it)
Microsoft have to improve OS and should keep in mind that the OS is for handheld device not for PC.
But Meego will a good innovation
It seems nokia want to confuse the whole market by having
Windows 7
Megoo
Simbyan
Java

Anonymous, 12 Feb 2011I do not like the feminine round shapes, no this is not a b... moreWell, Nokia has too much catching up to do to instantly compete with experienced giants like Samsung, SE or LG on the Smartphone market. During the "boom" when everyone else rushed to come up with the best devices Nokia were asleep.
I hope that they succeed though. The bigger the competition the better.

I was Sony Ericsson fan since start (R600, T300, T600, K500, K700, K800, K850, C905, U1, XPERIA X10 was the only phones I had, no Nokia, Samsung, LG, Motorola, iPhone), but I have a feeling that this would change... If this device would have a Xenon with this perfect design and WP7, I will never buy any other phone than Nokia in future... :)

Still the biggest market share; still raking in prof... moreSorry but thinking of Nokia the word "innovation" is the last thing that comes to my mind. They were innovative circa 2000, late 90s. Last years meant a huge downfall and their biggest success was maintaining a huge fanbase willing to buy their phones regardless of how bad they were. And oh my they were bad - over the last few years they couldn't even keep up with the times. Last year when Android blossomed Nokia still had their Symbian phones with ~300-400mhz old school processors and "pre-war" technology.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that they joined forces with Microsoft but it's like the last scream of falling companies. Microsoft are almost over if it comes to Mobile Operating Systems and Nokia are getting pushed out of the Smartphone market.

I've never liked Nokia, always hated their OS and bland looking phones. But this is sexy! And I like WP7. I might actually buy something like that! Nice move Nokia.

No thanks, Nokia. I like HTC design a lot more - that is if I would like to buy wp7 (but I don't like wp7). I like android more. What ?? You have just wp7 while HTC has everything?? Well, nevermind - I'll take a HTC. They give people a lot more choise - same hw quality and they'll probably continue to be cheaper. But don't be sad - just remember how you made M$ happy and all problems will disappear. :P:P:P:P

I think that this is what both companies needed. WP7 for a brand new platform is very promising. The UI needs some work and it's missing some core features, but every OS that is out now started off like that. iOS and Android platforms didn't just come out day one with everything. Yeah, I think that they should have released WP7 with some additional things, but I handled a WP7 Device and I really liked it (HTC HD7). This prototype looks pretty good too, and I think with Nokia's hardware, and their skill sets this is going to be what both companies needed. Symbian maybe a classic, but even with the new Symbian 3 OS, it just can't compete with anything anymore, I'm not bashing the OS, it's difficult to use, people nowadays want either absolute customization (Android) or simplicity (iOS) WP7 is a going to be in that middle ground I think. It's easy to use and you'll be able to do more with it I think. That and it's "Live Tiles" are on of the coolest things I've seen on a phone in a while.

see every one who every one think's that nokia is crap then why the other company's are not the leaders, still facing such fierce competition nokia's market share is this much that the sum total of S.E,Samsung,HTC,RIM.....are not upto the nokia's also.......
and their each design leaving HTC are copied by others.

I am a Nokia person through & through & would love for nokia to release a mobile similar to the blackberry Torch 9800, touch screen & slide up key pad, but the size of nokia E75. The b/b torch is too big & bulky!

I know some features of this mobile as WP7 needs a minimum of:
-Capacitive, 4-point multi-touch screen with WVGA (480x800) resolution
-1 GHz ARM v7 "Cortex/Scorpion" or better processor
-DirectX9 rendering-capable GPU
-256 MB of RAM with at least 8 GB of Flash memory
-Accelerometer with compass, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and Assisted GPS
-5-megapixel camera with an LED flash
-FM radio tuner
-6 dedicated hardware buttons - back, Start, search, camera, power/sleep and Volume Up and Down.

Looks good, and the hardware specs aren't that hard to guees. They're all pretty identical in WP7. If I was Nokia I'd trow a Tegra chipset+1080p video recording, to differentiate. Wonder what Nokia specific services will be there.
