Not true. That is only the case if it is a hetrogenous cluster, like the Snapdragon 820. Most octa core setups use cluster mirgration for speed and transparency to the host system, so they are only capable of using four cores at a time. As the multi core result is around three times the single core score I would say this is the case here.

And you seem to have a misunderstanding.
4+4 big.LITTLE doesn't mean that they use only 4cores in the same time.
They use all their 8 cores in the same time when they need, for example in multicore benchmarking.
Another thing, having 6K+ in multicore score is not strange at all. KIRIN960 has 6K+ too. And as you may know, kryo280 is a renamed A73, and low-clocked A73's power efficiency is nearly the same to A53's. So KIRIN960 and sd835 are actually very similar.

I wish Qualcomm actually makes this Sd835 a true octa core. If they didn't, you wont get that multi core score of 6K+. They should probably clock the processor at 2Ghz starting, and the overclocked version should support 2.5GHz or maybe just go to 3GHz as the 10nm process will barely heat up because this will be the first 10nm chip in the market, and Samsung makes the best chips. I'd love it if this was a true octa. True octa on the snapdragon 625 is fantastic. If only they could make true octa a72/a73 chips without having to use a53 chips. clock them at around 1.7 to 1.9GHz and they will perform impressively in a 14nm config for snapdragon 600 series chips.

is this big.LITTLE or true octa? it shows 1.9GHz but doesn't show the processor clock of the other 4 cores.

Qualcomm and Sammy always make better chipsets, than Apple.
And they have HALF AS BIG A SURFACE!!!
How well would they perform, if they made it as big as Apple's???

By the way I'm an Android fan have been that all along. But real life performance is there as proof. Graphics and effects, loading speed etc.
Now let's talk about limitations because even I was like that before. I plugged in IrDA dongle to my Windows laptop couple of nights before and I got bsod. And then I was wondering why the hell do I even need IrDA. Then thoughts continued about OS limitations. Why do I want IrDA or even Bluetooth. I will summarize about Bluetooth as well. Have two awesome Bluetooth speakers which I can't connect simultaneously no matter which is I use. Was ending using 3.5" splitter so I connect both of them. Then I thought Bluetooth sucks period no matter iOS limitations. Then lack of 3.5" jack in some new phones. I'm not saying lack of 3.5" is good but what is most efficient and easy to use. Wifi is so much better in any aspect of usage. Same goes for dlna, cloud etc. So I ask this. Do u need IrDA in phones, Bluetooth, 3.5" jack etc. now when even better wifi standards comes in near future.

After all, even Kryo core in 820/821 can be safely bumped to 2.5 GHz (at least no explosion report so far), so I assume 835 can reach even higher clock.

Nice, and this is not even the higher end 2.2 GHz core. Let's assume the difference is linear to the frequency, the single core could reach 2320, which is pretty damn good knowing that you will have 8 of them, meaning true multitasking of Android will enjoy the blazing fast processing speed.
Please don't say anything about Apple A chips before iOS gets true multitasking, in which at that time you might need to carry a 20k powerbank to keep the device alive for a day :v

completely no sense to compare iOS' score and Android's score.
They have different kernels, different binaries (which means scoring algorithm is not exactly the same), etc ...
Check the score of ~A5 devices, their architecture was very similar to MT and KIRIN but the score was much(3 times!!) higher than other's.
in 2013/2014, while high-end-Android's had 3GB of RAM, iPhone5s(which was known as one of the best phones) had only 1GB of RAM but worked perfectly because their os was very light. And we asked ourselves "which is better?". The answer was simple: the first 3 years(which is the official support term), the iOS one will work better because of their light and well optimised os , but when Apple decides to eliminate the device (to make people buy a new one), the phone will stuck ugly as they did at iPhone4s/iOS8.
If you choose Android one, you may not have a performance like apple's one , but you will have the independencies and freedom to choose your ROM and use it for a long time.
