Anonymous, 13 Feb 2017> a mobile version, which supports all popular platforms... moreYes, fully agree. Thumbs up! I wish all apps that rely on the internet became online version like in Chrome OS and Firefox OS. Only apps that do not need the Internet should be locally installed apps (e.g. calculator).

Anonymous, 13 Feb 2017> a mobile version, which supports all popular platforms... moreTrue, a mobile GSMA app seems like a waste of resources right now. The website is more than sufficient.
Nice Q&A session (looks like it's a hit!). BTW thanks GSMArena for clearing the S7 edge battery endurance question.

Smart move. I'm glad GSMA doesn't push an app down my throat.

On the sealed battery part. 1. No, it doesn't take so much space to add things to make the back and battery replaceable. Take for eg Xiaomi phones. The back cover is just a metal cover without any unibody design. It could have been made to be easily replaced as it also has plastic top and bottom. Imagine how if the back is replaceable one can switch between black, silver, grey and gold without buying a new phone. 2. We have seen removable li-po battery in several phones in the past. 3. With the growing size of phones, many are not worried about the thickness. We are no more living in one handed use period. Just imagine how galaxy note 7 fate would have been if it had just removable battery.

Anonymous, 12 Feb 2017Oh, baloney - new software releases run perfectly fine on o... moreYeah. Newer android versions don't need too much of resources than their previous versions. And there are phones that are launching with previous android versions too which are never being upgraded. Is GSMA telling that the phone becomes outdated just months after being launched? Is Sd650 outdated than sd430? The truth is that manufacturers never have to care about the software upgrade coz the hardware itself is not lasting longer due to heating, sealed battery etc and they find it very difficult to update the buggy laggy custom ui they have wrapped around android within a timeframe.

Oh, baloney - new software releases run perfectly fine on old hardware. I have been playing around upgrading a Galaxy SIII with custom ROMs (currently on Marshmallow) and with each new release it works better and better (faster and eating up less battery). It's purely to push us to buy new phones. And same with battery - there is hardly any user that will put 1 mm further thinness above having bigger and/or replaceable battery. So no - there is no need for thinner phones on the market- this is imposed by the manufacturers. Also when they and you push us towards pointless consumption, do you even consider environmental impact?
