Would be happy if every new iPhone variant has OLED. Then later, they could expand to iPad, MacBook, iMac, even iPod touch if there will be a new variant (but I think that will be replaced by iPhone SE)

Apple only buys the highest quality components and consider Samsung never have to make 160 million super high quality panels because Galaxy S and Note do not sell in that number, Samsung might have invested in a new factory for Apple or Galaxy S will use lesser quality panels.

So iCrap "innovates" by purchasing displays from their biggest competitor. Will the Apple fanboys at an upcoming trade show sit in the audience and start crying and biting the back of their hands like 16-year-old girls at a 1950's rock concert when the devices are announced? There is no doubt.

What? Do deals with Crapple then they will sue Samsung for stupid infringements. Nice iDiot logic.

Considering that the screen is by far the easiest upgrade to notice when comparing phones side by side, I think the new iPhone is going to easily sell for an extra 100 with a high quality AMOLED panel.

I'll personally stick with mid range Android phones, but if you're already spending 800 dollars on a phone, might as well shell out an extra 100 to get a good display.

For those of you that think the $72 per AMOLED is too steep, keep in mind that the iPhone 7's LCD panel is priced at $43 and even the Galaxy S6 edge's AMOLED panel in 2015 is priced at $83 !!!

ESUmanuelynne, 13 Feb 2017Good deal! No matter the cost, at least Apple is upgrading... moreAgree totally with you I'm looking forward to the new OLED panels but the current LCD panels on the 7 Plus are really amazing too.

Someone Else, 13 Feb 2017160 million AMOLED displays so far. So, correct me if I... moreActually indeed you are wrong. When the put 4.3 bn they refer to 4 thousand 300 hundred million dollars. Si the actual cost its like 27 bucks

                              Good deal!
No matter the cost, at least Apple is upgrading (in display aspect, at last after years of sticking to the acclaimed perfected stuff (LCD).

I think the cost of displays is high (actually steep) at 71.67 dollars. Earlier when I read about AMOLED being cheaper than LCD it was said to be something around 14 dollars. But now I think that was the comparison of cheaper panels of both types, say, one in j7 and one in moto g4.
Still, price is high becaus of
                                    1) that was the production cost, we should consider profits.
                                    2) profits will be high as Samsung is taking advantage of the apples condition, and it's a Samsung Apple deal anyway.
                                    3) it will be high end panel and apple must have put some serious quality conditions about, say, color accuracy and brightness etc ( though color accuracy mostly depends upon display software but still there are a big influence of hardware)
