I should know, I bought a couple of them , then instead of activating them with AT&T , unlocked them and gave them to close friends and family.

Original iphone was probably the best bang for buck phone ever. Then came iphone 4 and changed everything. After iphone 4 all iphones were luxury items.

Anonymous, 13 Feb 2017No need bigger battery. Chipsets these day are more efficie... moreWhat are you talking about? Most apps are optimized for exynos already and there is nothing Samsung can do OS wise. Google does the optimization. All OEMs can do is up the hardware. Samsung is not a software company in case that you don't know it.

The problem was Samsung, I thought. But in fact it is you that thinks that it's best for OEMs to not upgrade the hardware.

BTW the most optimized pixel is beaten handily by the chinese OnePlus 3. Mostly because (in fact) both run the same optimizations but OnePlus also has more memory.

Lastly SoC plays a much lesser role in battery life than screen. So it doesn't matter if it's 28nm or 10nm, what matters (the most) is how less power hungry phone monitors are (than how they used to be).

So indeed phones last more, hardly more than 6 Screen on Time, though, which is pitiful. My Note 4 gets 12 hours of continuous use every day, and that's because of a spare. Without it it would be like the pitiful Note 5 that can hardly top 5 hours and then it gets progressively less as the battery ages. Pitiful!

Spec wars is what keeps android fresh and relevant. Spec wars is all that got us things we take for granted, like excellent cameras and screens. Without spec wars we would be using almost the same phone for 10 straight years like it happened between 1989 and 1998

Spec wars is the most important thing. Without it you lose sales, like Samsung did. The last spec warrior (s4) is still the best selling Samsung ever.
