AnonD-248589, 21 Feb 2017What we want are Android updates, not MIUI updates. You should be aware that xiaomi doesn't use android OS directly on its phones but MIUI OS. Always buy the phone with the proper understanding what it can and cannot do for you and what OS it is using, then you won't be expecting the impossible.

This ''Pinecone'' chipset - I doubt it'll surpass the current high-end chipsets in terms of CPU and GPU.

AnonD-558092, 20 Feb 2017Great! No support from Xiaomi, now no support from custom roms! The most DUMB comments of the week...

MIUI is one of the RARE official ROM developer that gives updates to ALL their phones equally, whether it is Redmi, Redmi Note, or Mi series, Snapdragon or MediaTek-powered, all gets updates, although some models only have Chinese ROM, at least if what u want is UPDATES, they will roll it out regularly.

BUT, it's different case when u talk about Android upgrade, since this company are one that heavily customized their Android OS, and they need to make sure the ROM is stable enough for daily use, that why it takes time for them to release an Android OS upgrade.

FYI, heavily customized Android OS have bugs, and some of them are not really RAM-efficient which makes u will always feel lags here and there, no matter how GBs of RAM did ur phone had.
That's why when ROM developer release NEW Android version not too long after its release, u will likely to face many bugs, and MIUI is one that when released officially have very few bugs since the developer takes their time to made the ROM stable enough, even in BETA version

DUDE, please, DON'T TALK SHIT when u not even have or use Xiaomi-made smartphones!

"Samsung, Apple and Huawei are the only three companies in the world that produce their own chipsets - respectively Exynos, A-series and Kirin."

Xiaomi is now another one that will join the three, I hope they make something like the Kirin 960 for an affordable flagship. Powerful CPU and GPU too!

Will not buy devices with this SoC unless they provide kernel source code.
