Google Allo is making its way to the desktop, could it be too late, though?

Google Allo will be making its way to a web-based desktop client, eventually.

Considering that there are already at least two cross platform apps with solid desktop extensions, being What'sApp and Viber, both having End-to-End encryption baked in, why would anyone want to use Allo?

Allo, which needs to be unencrypted to work with Google Assistant. Allo, which runs this unencrypted stream through it's servers. Allo, which is currently only available to Android 5.0+ PHONES and not tablets, even tablets with LTE SIM slots.

Is this even needed for phones? I think not.

Google's strength is acquisition. The apps they bake in store are generally inferior to exisitng products. Allo, Google+, Docs, etc etc etc.

Just copy iMessage and make it available to everyone, even iOS users. And let us text from our computers.

I have a feeling that Google Allo will follow the footsteps of Hangouts and Google Talk unless they bring about a radical change in it.

I find the title misleading.... not the authors mistake. It's Google's mistake. Allo or any other Google client in existence are not desktop applications. They are not proper REAL APPLICATIONS. They are crappy web apps... designed to work with a specific browser.

Pure garbage. Goobye and goodnight Google.

If they make it any close to telegram with bots and other useful features that telegram offers
I will be happy enough to give it a chance

Why all these apps? Why they dont just improve hangout? Its too much confusing all apps better google try to put all in one as hangout and improve the app!!!

Google's messaging team is really out of their mind (idiot). There was Google Talk that they ruined to Hangout. Now, they create separate app for text, voice and video.

"...not by making us download a separate app and leaving it up to us users to convince others..."
                      My thoughts exactly!!!

Any messaging app which does not work across the platforms CANNOT become popular.

really true, google should combine hangouts messenger and everything else and just make one app and preload it on every phone
