Anonymous, 01 Mar 2017wasting time updating features nobody cares about.I agree with you, Xiaomi always says they're not selling the device, they're selling the software (MIUI), that's why they can manage the price so cheap despite having some good specs. That's why i'm buying miui phone for the hardware only, and then switch to custom rom right away.
In my point of view, their strategy is actually good IF the software itself is great in terms of user experience. Problem is, MIUI is crap. It is buggy, slow, bad memory management, bad battery life, well it is bad that's it.
I'm okay with skinned android but only if it has great user interface.
But apparently, MIUI doesn't. So they should change their strategy no matter what. Or they'll just continue losing market to Oppo, Vivo and Huawei

In my experience, phone with MTK SoC is never, bottom line, NEVER getting android version update. Yes it is still getting MIUI update like any other device, but no android update. Sorry to say mate

My Redmi Note 4 MTK just got a 8.1.6 this morning. Not even 8.2, and Nougat is said to be months out still. Too slow!

or nougat......They won't do it, their previous excuse that I could remember was there was proprietary parts that will be used in future products. Now they have released pinecore, this is a sign that custom ROM will be more limited than ever.
In the future, Xiaomi is only for that who likes MIUI.

Fluid. It's not just possible for the snapdragon 820 powered mi5 to be slow, is like saying a Ferrari is slow just because they are other Bugattis out there.
