Orson Krennic, 05 Mar 2017I have an album Mr.Misunderstood by Eric Church in 24-bit (... moremaybe. but I thought the same. but the A/B is a lot difference. it eliminates placebo!

Listen Mr.Misunderstood in MP3 is really noisy while listen in lossless file is really noise free, more clarity, more louder, more detail, etc.
Your headphones is good, maybe you need to relax and hear them carefully.

Orson Krennic, 04 Mar 2017Yes, i did the test between CD quality (1411 kbps) and MP3 ... morea literal blind test? because I had 2 qualities of the same file. it's different than a blind test which compressed it to 320kbps and chooses one at random and asks you to say which one it is!

but my headphone is hd 518 so it's not that high-end but still pretty good. maybe I have bad ears or need better headphones!

AnonD-190634, 03 Mar 2017did you take an A/B test?! I mean you have to try REALLY ha... moreYes, i did the test between CD quality (1411 kbps) and MP3 320kbps and you can notice the different easily. But i don't have any 240kbps MP3 so i really can't tell the difference, but i'm sure 320kbps has less noise and more detail than 240kbps one, because 320kbps has more bit rate.

AnonD-39937, 02 Mar 2017So it will cost 10$ or 20$?I think is 20$ because 10$/month is standard and the screen say "+10$" so its 20$/month for me

Orson Krennic, 03 Mar 2017I can notice 16-bit CD audio quality compare than MP3 easil... moredid you take an A/B test?! I mean you have to try REALLY hard to notice 320kbps from 240

AnonD-190634, 02 Mar 2017I doubt most people will notice much difference anyway! The difference between MP3 and lossless audio is noticeable if you have a decent pair of headphones like 100$+ and the room is somewhat quiet, like at home. Yeah, in noisy places without a good noise cancellation technology (Sony, Bose), lossless is a waste of resources. But lossless option should exist in all payed streaming services, we pay 10$ for a reason.

Orson Krennic, 03 Mar 2017I can notice 16-bit CD audio quality compare than MP3 easil... moreThe difference between 16 and 24 bit, is only dynamic range = how big the difference is in volume between the weakest and the loudest sound on the recording.
Unless one is in a soundproofed room, if the volume is set so that one can hear the weakest sound, the loudest possible sound would be lound enough to cause pains in ones ears, even with 16 bits.
Almost no musical pieces has more dynamic range than the CD, so the 24 bit file, will offer no benefits really (in theory lower noise level, but if they are not lost in the background noise in the listening room, they are probably recorded in the recording, and thus can't be avoided even with better dynamic range).

Some 24 bits files are mixed and mastered differently, and will therefor sound differently, but technically the CD offer dynamic range good enough for any pratical situation.

(Recording and mixing in higher bitrates than 16, has advantages, as the noise level can be kept quiter compared to the actual sound, but for playback, they are only wasting space)

AnonD-190634, 02 Mar 2017I doubt most people will notice much difference anyway! I can notice 16-bit CD audio quality compare than MP3 easily, CD quality really give you more clarity, more detail, louder volume power than MP3.

But i can't notice the difference between 24 and 16-bit audio.

I hope Google Play Music will also offer CD quality this year, because Spotify is missing in a lot of countries, even in Europe.
