Julliard, 05 Mar 2017The real question is why US still use the super old CDMA? B... moreIn the U.S. there are four major carriers. They are Verizon (CDMA), AT&T (GSM), T-Mobile (GSM) and Sprint (CDMA). Hence, two of the four major carriers use CDMA. The other two use GSM.
The most likely reason I can think that Verizon and Sprint use CDMA and not switch to GSM is the cost to do that. And, existing customers' phone compatibility coupled with contractual obligations would be a factor. And, the vast majority of people are totally clueless about CDMA versus GSM. To them, a phone is an appliance.

Wow, this is good reduction, more people can buy this named best phone 2016. It is one year old and the price is coming down as it should. By one now every body who can't afford the S8 ans S8 plus. As for me I am waiting for the Serious S8 phone.

Qualcomm owns all the CDMA patents in the US so if you want to use a CDMA phone in the US it has to have a Qualcomm modem. It's cheaper to just use Qualcomm SOCs in that region since it already comes with a built in modem.
The Exynos S6/Note 5 in the USA had to use an external Qualcomm modem which was more expensive.

I think the price reduces everywhere, here in Brazil the S7 Edge on release costed R$4199, now you can find it for R$1999,the same price as the new A7 2017, which is a midranger.

Those guys in the United States are so lucky. The phones are currently sold out and judging by the feedback, he has the best deals over there. S7 Edge Duos going for $530. That is what I bought the A7 Duos for in my country.
