06 March 2017
The phone was shown to company partners and they all agreed what they saw was “very impressive”.

AnonD-645188, 06 Mar 2017Why the camera should stay the same as the s7?With a bigger screen+smaller bezels being the focus this year for the S8, they can skip on improving other areas such as camera, ram, battery, while doing the expected standard yearly upgrade to speed. I don't think Samsung will be brave enough again to pull-a-S6 and remove features to just add them again the following year to make it look like having more innovation than it really does.

I owned an S7, then downgraded to an S6 for logistical reasons, and was very impressed that even a year or two since it was launched, the S6 was fast, stable and the camera as fast and capable as the S7. It didn't seem like a step down from the S7, perhaps due to software optimisation since launch? (Only negative was lack of S6 waterproofing.) Samsung seam to finally have reached a plateau where the devices are fast enough, so they can now focus on innovation such as more advanced biometrics and AI, as they seem to be doing.

Anonymous, 06 Mar 2017It may not have the most ram but it will have the faster an... moreIt's 20% less power and that is mostly irrelevant as the Soc accounts for only 30% of total consumption. So you get 6% better battery from SoC ... BUT, the screen is bigger (so it consumes more than the last phone) *and* the battery is (much) smaller. Total battery would be less.

Low RAM also means a slower phone than many 2017 flagships ... yeah, I'm not paying top dollar for looks alone (even them are not too good, the phone is too tall, they should have used 17:9 like mi mix did, it would give them better proportions)... oh well.

Latest and greatest chip, new design, best in class mobile display, most advanced software on device. Among the best in camera.
Still sounds like a flagship to me.
Just could have been better. And I'm not to worried about the battery, you would think they would have used a little more. Maybe they are just being cautious.

[deleted post]Bear with it. Just until the end of the month. After that, starting from next month we will get Note 8 leaks every single day. Well, I am more inclined to see Galaxy X1 leaks instead. Not looking forward at anything for the first half of the year. All the good stuff is usually at the second half of the year.
