AnonD-2881, 03 Mar 2011SE admitted the mistake and promised it wont happen again s... moreSorry to say this but SE said that starting from Xperia Arc they will not repeat the mistakes they did with old Xperias. So, android updates for older ones r out of question.
But I can guarantee that new Xperias will the very 1st with updates. Xperia Arc, neo, pro & play will already ship with latest & greatest 2.3 & morover at CES 2011 when Xperia Arc was unveiled some Arc phones were spotted running android 2.4 & a video too leaked showing 2.4 on Xperia Arc.
So, that shows that they r already working ahead of others in providing updates for their android lineup. SE has also replaced the super heavy Mediascape with lighter mediapane & toned down timescape to make it more easy for them to provide updates.
Considering all these things it's a safe bet to say that SE will be one of the best this yr in terms of updates.

AnonD-2881, 03 Mar 2011no offense our very good indian friend who supports x10 :P ... moreFrom the very 1st day X10 started selling at 28000 INR in india not 35000(i know abt it bcoz my two friends bought this phone on the very 2nd day of it's launch).
And who says that SE didn't accept their mistakes? SE is the only company which officially accepted the huge mistakes it made while providing updates for X10. Haven't u read the interview of SE's ceo where they officially accepted their mistakes ??? This interview again made me respect SE more bcoz at least they r taking the responsibility for what they did & publicaly promising that it won't happen again.

I think it's safe to say that Sony Ericsson have learned their lesson from the update story of X10. Which is why future updates on all of the new handsets will not have the same problem. This doesnt excuse the bad decision to not update X10 to Froyo, I know this. But genuinely the new Xperias have had the whole UI and OS designed differently to accomodate updates not only to Android but SE's own interface on top, allowing one or the other to be updated effortless.

To any unhappy X10 customers, it is a big shame and if I was a customer I would probably be pissed off. But seriously!!! Ease off the blogs. The time you spent writting here so many times, you could have easily spent earning money to buy a different handset if you were unhappy with it.

Sony Ericsson is and always will be a fantastic handset manufacturer, that like some others will make mistakes... but unlike others will admit them!

I have an X10 mini pro. I waited ages for the 2.1 update but I got it. And sinse then, my phone has been updated twice more (not the OS itself).

Now, except from the speed of the phone and a few logo icons change, nothing else is really different from when I had 1.6. Seriously, what is your problem with Xperias? Would you rather SE rush the updates and it be buggy and laggy? Or for them to take their time to get it perfect and brilliant quality?

I'm happy with the update service I got with SE, so I think I might upgrade to more SE in the future. With most of you, it's just "I want!" If Google brought out OS 2.4 and it was NO different from 2.3, most of you would still want it!

Well done, SE, and good luck with the future, I say!

X10 performed way... moreyou know what NOKIA is even having harder time then sony in giving updates as they not only have to satisfy symbian customers by keep on giving updates but also to concentrate on meego and windows phone 7 but they are not running away from their responsibility like sony ericsson, they are keeping the symbian ,they are trying to make the experience better for their old customers who have taken the symbian based phone and also working on windows mobile and meego ,so the excuse of sony that "it was our first android mobile phone ,so we can't provide future updates " is just a silly excuse by sony ericsson,

Most of you people make me smile, most of the comments posted are by those you had problems with their handset or were just misguided by the salesman.

I sell phones, all brands, and if we just take the numbers SE still is great quality.

Most people expect too much or just don't know how to choose a phone. I own the X10 among others phones, and not having 2.2 doesn't change a thing, all my apps work, multi-touch isn't that important. And I work with my phone it's not just a toy to show off.

All brands have their ups and downs, but most people/customers just like to argue.

It's not about the hardware, it's about people knowing what they're getting and what they NEED.

I like to go from one post to another, because very few are realy interesting !!!

X10 performed way beyond what one could expect from the very 1st android phone from any company.
btw... X10 isn't overpriced anymore. In india it is selling at around 20000 INR = $450(unlocked/carrier free) which is much less than what HTC, samsung or any other companies r selling their phones for.

They will focus on their phones only during release. & forget about it later on. Just like X10. Buying xperia is not at all a good choice. They are not going to provide updates
