What freeware have to do with market place?
We talking about platform that SELL and distribute applications, grames, movies and other media. And that platform after 5 years STILL dont have simple search option and sorting.
Such features actually could HELP google make more money, because users could get better and faster results, and buy products that they wanted.

Its weird that for some people negative opinion is always related to offense or anger...
Because show me where I write something that is not truth?
All listed points should be in Play store from the start, but we still dont have simple sorting option by rating of app! We talk about biggest company, Google, that cant make such simple thing.
And looking back in history only reason some company made something new, it was because of hacking problem or major bug that crash specific software/feature. So I really hope someone will literally F up Play Store, so Google will finally add such simple options that even normal person with basic programming skills could do.

You can install android apps on computers. So, we cant call it Android Market anymore. There is no requirement that Android applications must be acquired using the Play Store. Users may download Android applications from a developer's website or through a third-party app store alternative.
As for why the word 'Play'? Google wanted to better describe their offerings since its not just apps. The Play name is multifaceted, evoking thoughts of playing a game or pressing play on a media file. They even had changed their array of google apps' icons into a 'play' icon shape.

I still HATE that name, almost as much as I hate aPple...
"Android Market" was a fine and neutral name, that described what is was all about.
For all the adult users that use their phones/phablets/tablet primarily for serious stuff, the 'new' name is not only bad, but WRONG...
But for all the kids that got an android device to replace their Nintendo GameBoy, the name is fine...

Happy they dont count pre-installed apps among the most popular ones, or else it would look like: Google, YouTube, Google Play Games, Google Play Books, Google Play Movies.

5 years and still we dont have:
1. basic sorting option.
2. separation of apps and games when searching.
3.basic filtering options in search box.
4. lack of any administration of apps, so more than 20% of whole Google Play are scam apps and games.
5. Lack of any support for smaller devs for featuring their products.
6. We still have algorithms that show in top list and related section apps/games that pay more for advertising rather than real similarity of product you browsing.
7. Google still cant handle fake download/rating methods that most of devs use to bump their rating very quickly(its really easy to buy 1000 downloads for less than 5$)
So yeah, Happy Birthday you useless and outdated Market, I hope someone will hack you and then Google will find baIIs to make you again from scratch.
