that phone with huge bezel, small battery with endurance rating 64h, no waterproof, chipping, scratch prone, no stereo speakers, no micro SD, no IR, screen resolution not flagship grade, and its price is guess what, $700.

As long as that Google logo still on the back, you will be fine and keep buying right?

I am yet to hear of any Android (or Apple) device in a user's hands being successfully exploited. All the vulnerability reports are from security researchers either having access to the phone, or require the user to do something really stupid.

This security "risk" (and how it is linked to iOS being locked down) is something I have never been able to understand.

Apple can re-design it easily but they dont want to.

"open up" never! In US, when people hear iOS is the safest OS in the world, they get crazy and want it, and it spread whole world and its good TBH. So that why it will never OPEN UP! For safety; Apple said. I dont know how or for what they are using their phone, what in their phone, but they need most secure OS to prevent......... I have no idea........ blackmail I think, sabotase, teror, or what ever they imagine. Most secure country need most secure OS lol

Anonymous, 09 Mar 2017Yes, but haters will never understandNot a fanboy either. Yes, iOS is better integrated but it's kind of an isolated system. Most of the time you feel like you just paid the money but apple still own your device.
And, it's overpriced when compared to stability and freedom.

Savor , 09 Mar 2017Apple might always be #1 in the United States. Look around ... moreTrue Story! In US is so hard to find another brand beside Apple and Samsung, especially when you live at side of country. You need to take holiday to China or India to buy new brand phone like OP, Xiaomi, or Vivo.

AnonD-492330, 09 Mar 2017Blame it on galaxy note 7 explosions. It was only a 2% drop for both Samsung and Android in the U.S. I highly doubt one device like the Note7 can make up the gap between Apple and Samsung had it never been recalled.

The Note series is the real Samsung flagship especially for power users but surprisingly they don't sell as many as the S series thanks to its pricing and arriving around the time the new iPhone gets released.

Notes might sell between 10M-20M while an S phone can sell over 60M like the S4 did. The S8 will probably sell the most again this year for Samsung no matter how awesome and more expensive the Note8 will be.

Savor , 09 Mar 2017Apple might always be #1 in the United States. Look around ... moreInterestingly enough, In Canada, while Apple still has the majority of the market share, our stores have sections for iPhones, Samsung devices and LG. There are sections at Rogers for Motorola though. The Canadian market is a bit more diversified, and it is promising to get even more diverse with the arrival of Huawei on the premium market soon.

Apple might always be #1 in the United States. Look around and I say like 60% I see use an iPhone. The other 30% is Samsung. It is a duopoly of 90% either iPhone or Galaxy. Go to any retail store and both have their own sections. This isn't like in Asia especially the Philippines where Samsung and Apple are still very popular but I see more varied brands like OPPO, Lenovo, Sony, etc.

Anywhere you go in the US, an iPhone or Galaxy is basically the only phones that stores display. I wanted to check out the LG V20 and HTC 10 and Best Buy rarely carries either especially the latter. The 10% "others" are relegated in some small section next to prepaid phones nobody cares about. You won't really see ads for them. The only promo shots are from Apple and Samsung.

Apple ruling the United States is like a disease that will never go away. Not Nokia, LG, Google, or Huawei can save them already. Too ingrained. Besides, Americans are carrier dependent. I saw last week an iPhone SE 64gb go for $115 on Boost. Americans can get iPhones and Galaxy the cheapest with discounts and free perks.

I just read the United States is no longer one of the Top 5 best countries to live in. Overrated except for media sensationalism, military, and pension.
