Counterclockwise: Android grows up, goes to Play and make friends

12 March 2017
Google Play recently celebrated its 5th birthday. It was born not long after Android toppled BlackBerry for the top spot in the US smartphone market. Yes, BlackBerry.

as far as blackberry and their physical qwerty keyboards, people still want those, get asked at least once a day by customers for phones with a physical keyboard, theres still a market, even if its a small amount of people... (I work in a phoneshop)

1080p is best I agree but 4k is useful as mobile VR is trendy. I'm not into VR though. (yet)

I don't understand y these companies don't listen to their customers...
Ultimately give your customers what the want!Nokia killed itself with pride and ego, blackberry did same with pricing and lack of software support.I will still buy a bb10 device with good apps support, shame we r stucked with android and ios, windows isn't worth the money it is printed on. For me samsung is the survivor of them all I just hope they learn from history and not take away the 3.5mm jack....removable battery is gone for good so no need whinning about that
We customers need real innovation from Samsung like embedded finger print scanner but in the end I think phones evolved too fast

The e6 isn't similar to the bb keyone.
The similarities are a hardware keyboard and touch screen but they are different in many ways.

Dam shame the e6 and e7 cameras weren't auto focus bit fixed focus.

1080p is definitely acceptable. However, I consider that anything less should be a capital crime to install in anything but the cheapest phones.

I loved my Sony Ericsson Mini Pro with its keyboard.

It was still an emerging market back then. Keyboards weren't dead on devices meant to communicate. Around the time the E7 was announced, Nokia also showed off swiping across the virtual keyboards on its high-end, still unreleased Meego devices.

These days Swype-style keyboards are everywhere, and physical keyboards are not.

Honestly, I would love to see a modern E7 successor.

No one need 1440p or 2160p (just yet)! 1080p is clearly enouh for devices that fit in a pocket. But I do look forward to a 4K HDR tablet. Put that in the Galaxy View...

Hey author, Articles should be more about worldwide trends rather than US. OK? Especially when most visitors are from Asia and Europe.
