MrGrumpy, 13 Mar 2017Nobody cares bout tablets, let's keep it mobile only.I care ! Smartphones are cool but when getting larger they tend to be cumbersome and not very usefull, I think that modern computing will be mainly done on tablets, true smartphones will keep their place as indispensable gadgets in our life but tablets are getting there replacing our aging classic computers and laptops, tablets are no longer media consumption devices which you can buy and use it the same way for 5 years.

Like X, G5 SE and A9
They are almost as powerful as 810.
62X is regular mid range, very economic cpu.. Good battery life.

...because those applications haven't had the groundwork set up yet.
It usually takes something like a flagship to lay the groundwork for these technological innovations, but they're clunky and never quite ready for prime-time. It takes the second, or sometimes multiple, generations for those features to be polished.
I'm happy about BT 5 because its at a point where it can almost compete with Wifi, and become intelligent. And with Machine Learning, we will get Siri/Cortana/Google to be able to connect to homes/cars/accessories and gadgets much more natively and automate most of our "daily computing" needs. But again, it will take a number of years.
So having these features will be more of a gimmick at first. By the time they're polished, there will be better SoC/phones out there. And due to the poor software update support by Google and most Android OEMs, you're really better off getting a new phone that has the feature (not gimmick) working out of the box.
So the QSD 835 will more appreciated as a flagship chip that offers a bit better performance than the QSD 820/21, with better sustainable performance, and greater battery endurance. Those will be real benefits from it. I would say camera optics would benefit, but the QSD 820 already does a great job at it where I don't see how it could be improved. Oh, and AR/VR will benefit as that's starting to take off/improve.

But I wouldn't wait for 7nm at flagship, when are they coming? Some say 2H 2018 that means in reality in 1H 2019, without any delay...I would say Snapdragon 835 will be a SOC worth it, not for it's performance (whatever it may be, because the leaked benchs are giving different results), but for its features like Bluetooth 5.0(in comparison with 4.2 has 2xspeed and 4xrange), WiFi AD and machine learning, these will make the future proof in connectivity for a years and machine learning may be a thing sometime in the close future.(if it isn't)

Yes. Very good answer. If you would always wait years to get what you think ( best and very imrpoved flag ship ) you will never buy it. Just think about it :)

The time to upgrade budget segment phones is this year. Sd625 is great for power and battery life. I skipped the sd617 cause the improvement over the sd615 was minimal. SD625 is a huge improvement over sd617 across the board and that has fulled my decision to upgrade this year... For flagships, I'd wait for the 7nm chips. Those phones will come will other awesome features as well so I'd wait for that generation...

Why the camera. Review won't use the Percentage for every measurements test results? It is sometime confuse people with extraordinary word only!

Do the staff at GSMArena prefer a phone with great software support, or one with better hardware? Also do some or most of you guys resort to rooting and custom firmware, and would such abilities affect your personal choice to buy a (Android) handset?

I'd rather say: Get the phone that matches your needs and keep it for at least two years before upgrading. That way you guarantee yourself a real upgrade while having used the usual "two year software update support".

When will the mobile version have the option to upvote/downvote a comment like in the desktop one? Also displaying user icon, comments made number and upvotes number? I really miss them when I'm on the phone.
