Um, by the way people are commenting, I'd like to clear something up:
HTC isn't dead yet!
They have multiple factories, but now they just have one less.

AnonD-2626, 16 Mar 2017It's not surprising at all. Dunno what happened, but after ... moreWe all know exactly what happened, the Chinese took over, only strong brands (Apple, Samsung) and big scale (again Apple and Samsung) will allow any oem's to survived this onslaught. Google lied to those guys, Google sold them on the idea that skins on top of android would help them to differentiate (who really cares) while they (Google) retained and controlled all the real power (Playstore). When you control the platform and is the only ones who makes any money from it, everyone else can kill each other by driving everything down to zero for all you care, since at the end of the day, they are all helping you spread your reach.
It's the single reasons Samsung keep trying (and failing) to create their own platform. Apple shows us how much freedom and power one has when you control your own destiny. It's too late for all those guys, that fight have long been settled. Hopefully they lean from it and won't repeat it for the next big thing, that is if they survived this round.

It's not surprising at all. Dunno what happened, but after the M7 the HTC went spiraling down. They kept pushing out these gimmicky phones, focusing on on features people really didn't care about and kinda stopped improving and innovating as much as they used to. Had HTC Desire, Desire HD, HTC One X, HTC One(m7) - I was on a happy and consistent path with HTC until HTC One (m8) fiasco. I really hope HTC will turn around, I like this company, but the competition is incredibly tough, you won't make it with crap like HTC U at that ridiculous price in a sea of android phones:) Good luck tho, HTC:)

Hopefully HTC can learn from it. People hate overpricey things even for rich people nowadays have brains to think. 10 years ago maybe rich people will buy anything expensive that offered

This is fair news. Good for HTC and good for the tech market, as the Vive is really cool and they were actually able to make money on it, as opposed to their smartphones. I miss the old HTC (early Androids) but that's about it. These days their best products are in the VR, that's where the future is and I'm hoping for great developments there.
