AnonD-663285, 20 Apr 2017I appreciate what your saying, but past experience dictates... moreIf you don't like it then I think you can disable "By the way" thing if you ask Google Assistant, just saying, it's smart right?

AnonD-39937, 16 Mar 2017This isn't an ad. Google home didn't say "hey buy Polaroid ... moreI appreciate what your saying, but past experience dictates that once you get your foot through the door, it starts with the odd comment( may be even useful ), then overtime it escalates and becomes the norm spewing annoying rubbish out all the time. If there going to allow ads then you should have the option to switch them off.

I wouldn't mind these ADs if Google gave me its Assistant free of charge. Otherwise - thanks, no thanks.

krystian, 16 Mar 2017Better than irfanview?than anything indeed. Irfanview I used to use it 13 years ago. It's ugly and still looks ugly now. Picasa is at another level though I'm sure Irfanview has a lot of nice features.

I don't see the big deal, Google Now always showed movie and music release dates in the card feed. This seems the same, just spoken out loud.

AnonD-226698, 17 Mar 2017You don't get google ads on your full price purchased phone?... I would hope the UI and default apps on a Nexus or Pixel would be free of ads, yes. Downloaded apps and websites on the other hand...

This isn't an ad. Google home didn't say "hey buy Polaroid glasses because they are on sale". He just suggested an interesting event for today and I would have appreciated it. After all it's a "By the way" and Google assistant is an AI thing, which should smarter than the normal question and reply robot.

So that's why they abandoned desktop Picasa, no ads in it. It was/is the best picture viewer on Windows and I won't move away from it until something similar comes. :(
