With last year's hardware, some very useful features missing and this build quality all in one device, HTC seems to be going the way of the dinosaurs. One would almost wonder whether they have just 'lost it', or are actually committing commercial suicide.

Could HTC design the phone more in Taiwan's styles, Identity is an Image, I can see U Ultra and Samsung Note is very similar. They should have a better design!

Anonymous, 20 Mar 2017its not like u gonna bend your phone like that or scratch i... moreOn purpose you wont. But it is to emulate unexpected real life condition. Many user put their phone on their back pocket. The bend test emulate users sitting down on their phone. The scratch test emulate situation where you put your phone in your pocket along with keys or coins or even handbag. Fyi, all the branded flagship go through this test. There is no reason why HTC should be left out of it. Not testing HTC phone is like acknowledging they are not an important brand in global market. HTC rather have their phone get destroyed.

Used to be a big HTC fan. But in the last few years i wouldn't buy any of their producst..
Also, the ultra lacks waterproofing, 3.5 jack. Big no no from my point of view. I use the headphones almost all the time WHILE charging my phone.
I never thoughlt i'd say this, buy just die already HTC! We're gettin sick of you..

its not like u gonna bend your phone like that or scratch it on purpose.. this video proves nothing really... why would htc send a phone they know is gonna get destroyed? makes no sense.. only can scare people off to buy it... good business decision

acebone, 20 Mar 2017This is stupid. Who would buy a phone & will not take c... moreWe call it "accident".
When you by "accident" drop it.
When you by "accident" scratch it in your pocket or bag by keys or other sharp object
When you by "accident" sit on it(couch or bed)
Or when you by "accident" drop something on.
And to give you more "real life scenario" few years ago, when I had Xperia Z, I put in on my bed near pillow, and accidentally I put my elbow on it when i wanted to get headphones... ad phone crack... not only back cover but also front glass.
So you see such test somehow show real life scenarios that you can have.

From making the first ever Android phone (and several other popular and iconic phones thereafter) to this excuse of a "flagship". Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

gilda, 20 Mar 2017As if most of these conditions happen in real life. What a waste. As if you're not going to take your phone out of the box after you bought it, just to keep it flawless eternally. Durability tests are a waste I guess, so product manufacturers should just make their product and sell it without testing its durability because it's a waste, right? Lol

Ha, I love Zack's videos, his usually correct opinions and his humour (Blue Da Ba Dee reference :P)! Keep featuring them here GSMA.
But I do feel he compromised the smartphone's integrity by cracking the glass back BEFORE the bend test. Couldn't he have saved it for after the bend test?!
