I rather have a phone that has the latest security patches than one without. Cheap Xiaomi, latest security patches, and runs the same Android apps.

So they are just going to "test" a 1 year old OS on the phone to make it seems like they are "supporting" the phone, while Android O is already coming out and will be released soon.
I loved Motorola, and bought the original Moto X. When they failed to even update it to 5.1.1 (they abandoned it on 5.1), I stopped liking Motorola. If I were to buy Motorola, I will only buy their cheap E phones since I don't expect a long-lasting support anyway.

"Soak Test" is a bit of an archaic term but it's existed in this context for many, many years.
If it helps, I thought it involved water when I first heard it.
